Finished my 12 piece type gold coin set

TyrockTyrock Posts: 311 ✭✭✭
I'm happy to say that I recently purchased an 1878 PCGS 55 $3 gold coin. It completed my 12 piece gold coin Registry set. I've been collecting for many years and this is the first $3 gold coin I've purchased. Walter Breen called $3 gold coins "relics of an interesting, but abortive experiment." Fortunately he also said that "they are among the most highly coveted of American gold coins." It's nice to be able to enjoy your coins. You can view the coin by using it's cert # of 32759221.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Uh Oh he mentioned "Walter Breen" so now I suppose we need to endure two pages of Breen bashing posts.

I had lots of fun with mine too. Most of them are in AU58, but they range from XF40 to MS65+. I fudged it a bit and added the Classic Head coins.

Congrats to the OP. That 78 $3 is lovely.

I really like the look of gold in the black capital holders. Some day I just might be crazy enough to crack my Dahlonega type set out of their plastic coffins and get one of those.image
