Will they be tougher on an 89-cc to "give up" a PO1 vs. an 1880-s?

How can you tell it's an '89 rather than an '80?

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

date placement above the dentilcles???? lol,

good question but I think I see an inward curve on the left side indicating a 9. But, PCGS may disagree, we'll see.

Wish they'd give out Basal State for those coins so worn that they can only be dated using diagnostics for that year instead of the actual year... I just think it'd be neat to have an 1878 8TF BS-0!

edit- and to answer OP I say 50/50 and leaning toward PO-1

Yes, there are several dollars that no date is needed, nor mintmark. The 1890cc tailbar would be one of those as would the 1921 Peace dollar, just to name two.

Ah, fatigue is a strange thing. I was attributing the certified FR2.image

Edited to add: The mintmark on Bob's coin is too small to be from an '89-CC reverse. I think it is 1880-CC, of which a half dozen or so reverse of 1879 (SAF) dies used the small cc mintmark. None of the 1889-CC reverse dies used the small cc.

I am very confused why would you send in such a worn coin? Is it really worth the price of grading for such a specimen?

Interesting that the FR02 obliterates the obverse peripheral lettering, yet has full LIBERTY.

The PO1 candidate has this reversed. I think having most of the obverse motto visible could be the decider.

Here is a 1878cc with the small cc's like they used in 1880 (but not in 1879 or any other year).

Obviously PO-01. There's no room for additional wear and still be able to make out the date/mm.

I see the difference in the size of CC's. Also the inner shape of the last digit of date is different. One is more rounded than the other. Comparing the OP's coin to the 1889 I would call it a 1880 also.
