They will only need to hire one of the Domino's Pizza guys to make the boxes. Have you seen the rate of speed they can make 1000 boxes? It is amazing.
Fall National Battlefield Coin Show is September 11-12, 2025 at the Eisenhower Hotel Ballroom, Gettysburg, PA. WWW.AmericasCoinShows.com
Good news! I have dozens of these and maybe if they go up in price I can recover some of my grading costs.
Good for PCGS to go green. I just hope the cardboard is not like the stuff in the 1950 proof sets or the coins may tone after a while in weird ways if left in the boxes? Not sure air tight is really 100%.
I had heard that the reason PCGS charged a fee for grading was to cover the cost of the blue boxes. Without them, there no longer will be any grading fees.
Don't miss the rattler slabs and at this point won't miss the rattler boxes much either. Coins pack better and don't make noise in cardboard. The plastic boxes were also annoying in that last slot that was a tight fit and just plain wouldn't accommodate an NGC slab. I probably have half a shed full of PCGS plastic boxes. I opt for double row boxes or those NGC or ANACS cardboard shipping boxes over them nearly always. The blue box had a long run.

With the dozen or so extra slab boxes in closet I aint payin nothing for any new slab storage boxes.
The new slabs fit just fine in the blue boxes.
No they don't. They may fit fine in the middle (and its a tight fit) but not at the ends.
My response in another thread asking if the storage boxes will be discontinued...
Only PCGS Management can answer that.
From a business perspective I would assume they will still be available for a long, long time in the PCGS Store for $4.50. Storage boxes are part of their product line and probably costs them less than $1 to produce - but take up quite a lot of storage space which is also an expense.
They just aren't going to give them away anymore to submitters.
Instead, they will use the cardboard boxes for return shipping, which are also available for 90c each in the store.. I'd guess the cardboard boxes cost less than 10c and can be folded up so they take a fraction of the storage space.
NGC has been doing it forever.
If you were running a business and could reduce the cost of an expense by 90% what would you do?

The outside labeling idea is brilliant. I am stealing that.
I used to do that, but I found myself moving things around a bit much
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Inside labeling may be more practical.

How many people still have an old PCGS green box? I think I have five of them from the 1989 era.
I have 9 green pcgs boxes all brand new. These are all still in the original individual cardboard boxes they were shipped in.
