I agree with both of your points.

I actually only got to see the 80's Orioles but I do remember Palmer being awesome. To stay on point Palmer is a great example of being undervalued.
My fondest 80's memories are definitely Earl Weaver. In the 90's I caught Brady Anderson's 49th homerun, I was watching from the standing room only spot in right field.
In true disclosure I haven't been to an O's game in a very long time. The last time I was there was when my brother in law played for the Devil Rays so we went to watch him pitch. I loved Camden Yards, what a classic stadium.

Mike Duvall, he went to Potomac State, he was pretty good but ended up needing Tommy John surgery and never made it back.
My question is where is al this money coming from? With new modern collectors, boxes run from $100 to $4000 on release. Price points on Chrome Autos go from $100 to $7000. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before. Then vintage stuff hitting $10,000, $20,000, $30,000, $40,000 dollars. The first million dollar 9 I've seen when 9 years ago it was a $4000 card......

What card went form $4,000 in a PSA 9 to over a million?

That's a good question. I'm often surprised to see how cheap most oddball issues sell for. As a collector, its more fun for me to own a rare piece of history, compared to the Topps issues where there seems to be no shortage of.

Bobby Orr rookie cards have been rising but I believe are still vastly undervalued. I believe this card is the 1952 Mantle of hockey cards and has a lot of room to grow. Will it ever approach the price levels of a Mantle? No, but it's still relatively cheap.
70sfootball is cheap. I think Cassius Clay and Pele cards have a lot of room to grow too. The issue with both is awareness and having a single iconic rookie. The most recent smr article should give the 1966 panini Cassius Clay a bump. My favorite Pele card is the 58 titulares from Brazil but psa mislabeles them as hand cut. Also just about any tennis card sells for peanuts. I could see those catch up to golf atleast.

My thoughts exactly. Rookie 1971 topps Bradshaw's have actually gone down in the last 10-15 years. Surprising considering its a condition sensitive set.
Also amazed how cheap you can pick up a 70's-early 80's Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe card considering they are 2 of the greatest Tennis players in history and both Americans.
Another thing I cant figure out is how cheap hall of fame classic Bowling cards are. Bowling is the number 1 recreational sport in the U.S. and you can purchase 40-50 year old cards for next to nothing

16k + for Rose rookies now in 8..........gobbled up in a few days. Psa 7s, at 4k. The madness continues. Maybe a diehard collector won the Powerball and is just living out his card collecting fantasy.
seems like In the last 2 weeks, about every PSA 7, 8 or 9 high dollar HOF rookie card pre 1974 has been bought off Ebay.............great time to be a seller.............
The Schmidt sale is legit, I purchased it. Someone has been buying all the 8's and wanted another before they go any higher. I'm buying centered PSA 7 and 8's if anyone has.
You are correct, 9 PSA 8 Schmidts bought since May 17. Mostly someone just hit the BIN and scooped them up. I guess if you buy 9 PSA 8s and you get one bump to a 9 its all worth it? Is that what is going on? With 9s now going for over 3k? Is it the resubmit game that people or playing or just folks all of a sudden in a buying frenzy in last 7 days? Its quite interesting nonetheless.
I was the only bidder on the auction which ended ~ 10am EST on a Thursday. Since I got it for much less than others have been selling for part of me wonders if it's even legit. It looks fine but maybe others passed because they saw something I didn't??
Looks good to me, but I am no PSA expert. Nice card. Looks like you got a good deal. You could probably list it for $500 tonight and someone might scoop it up if you are looking for a quick flip.
HOFers from the 1960 Topps baseball set seem undervalued to me in PSA 7 plus. I'm not a high end buyer but the PSA 7s I look for really don't seem to have moved much for the likes of Koufax, Berra, etc. from that set.

Comparatively, not much if any. Most are dead money.
