CSNS Show Report
I left for the CSNS show at dark+ on Wednesday morning. Two hours into my long drive it started to rain. Then it poured, then it was 12 areas of road construction and then high cross winds. It was a miserable day to drive. I finally arrived in the Chicago area just in time for ....rush hour. This time I decided to take a different route ( slightly longer and double the tolls ) to avoid malfunction junction. After I got off the interstate it still took me 45 minutes to drive the 5 miles to my hotel.
Thursday morning I grabbed a muffin and headed to the show. The Schaumburg hotel and convention center is my favorite venue for a show. It is new,has a nice lake with ducks and a fountain and has plenty of free parking . I got my badge and went to the second floor to view a few lots at the Heritage auction. I finished just in time to get back downstairs in time for the 10 AM opening. There was a very good crowd ( 100+ and I think more than last year )waiting to get inside. I started at aisle 100 looking for coins on my want list.
Stack's had a case with a complete PCGS $3 gold grading set from 1-65 excluding + grades. It was priced at $45,678. Cris Napolitano had the #1 PCGS set of $20 Liberty Head Gold. It was only missing 3 coins. The only coin below 55 was the 1870 CC in 45. What a set!
I stopped at David Kahn's table and sold him a cheap coin. I consigned a couple of gold coins to Great Collections auction. I contemplated a coin at Dave Wnuck's table but since it was more than I have ever spent on one coin I passed. Looked at a coin in Legend's auction. I finished my first pass of the floor by 12:30 and started around again. By 2 PM I was ready for lunch. I decided to opt out of the convention center food. A hot dog and a fountain drink were $5.50 EACH! I drove to my favorite restaurant, The Rose Garden Cafe. I ordered the pork chops. It came with chicken noodle soup, an assorted fresh bread basket, mashed potatoes and gravy and 3 large thick pork chops all for $12.75! I could only finish one of the chops and took the other 2 chops and 2 rolls back to the hotel.
I was back to the show by 3PM. The show had noticeably slowed by that time. I finished my second pass of the floor and decided to call it a day.
Friday morning I heated up a pork chop and a roll for breakfast and then went to the show. I found some coins on my list that I had not seen on Thursday, but they were not of the quality that I wanted. I did make a few other purchases. I took time out to view the exhibits. Most are of a very nice quality. My favorite was a 4-5 case exhibit of Canadian Half Dimes called fish scales. There was a large colorful metal fish with 500 Canadian fish scales attached!
By late afternoon I had done all of the damage that I could do and went back to the Rose Garden Cafe. This time I ordered the all you can eat fish fry. It came with chicken noodle soup, assorted fresh bread basket, fries and 3 large pieces of fried perch for $10.50! The entire staff is dressed in white shirts and ties and the service is excellent.
Saturday morning I heated up my last pork chop and roll for breakfast. I checked out of the hotel and headed for home. I had not been on the interstate for 5 miles when it started to rain. It rained about half of the way home. I finally got home just after dark.
The drive to and from the show was not what I would have liked but I had a super time meeting old friends and getting to play with coins.

I'm glad you had a good time. That's what counts.
Thanks for the lowdown on the show, the pork chops, the fish fry, and now I am hungry.
I think I will have breakfast for dinner.
Is the $20 Liberty set (AWA Collection I presume) at the Stack’s table going to be auctioned at a future sale?
Thanks for the report.

The AWA set was at Chris Napolitano's table. I would guess that it is for sale now.
Nice report. I will admit that the Chicago traffic ended up keeping me away
For me, traffic wasn't all that bad. I live near Midway Airport, It only took me approx. 1 hour. I thought myself, it would have taken me at least 1 hour and 45 min. but no! I guess it all depends on timing?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.of the pork chops
Charmy would have included pictures
