    Although the Garrett-Simpson piece is clearly the finest known and is fabulous, I do like some of the lesser grade 1792 Silver Center Copper Cent patterns. These are terrific pieces overall, with tremendous historical significance.

    As Gazes seems to be shying away from spending 5.5, one of the lower cost pieces may be an option for Gazes in the future.

    In April 2012, the PCGS graded MS-61 Morris piece sold for $1.15 million. I really like it.

    1792 Silver Center Copper Cent Pattern Brings $1.15 Million

    The Norweb-Jung and Newman 1792 Silver Center Cent patterns are neat, too. The Norweb piece brought a little less than $2 million in August 2014 and the Newman piece went for a reasonable price of $1.41 million in May 2014, as I reported.

    I have thought for a long time that the Nova Constellatio Patterns were the coolest, most historic items in American Numismatics, but this Judd-1 Pattern, ex. Garrett, made me stop, pause and rethink my earlier opinions. What a phenomenal coin!

    Was drooling over that listing yesterday - what a great piece! If I had that kind of money, I'd go for it AND the Nova patterns.

    Although I have closely inspected hundreds of Great Rarities, including multiple 1792 Silver Center Copper Cent patterns, the Garrett-Simpson piece is not one that I have examined under magnification. I have, however, discussed it with other experts. I have never heard anyone say that it has been doctored.

    Although some Garrett Collections coins were dipped while in the Garrett Collection, this was not one of them. Moreover, it was in the Garrett Collection for many decades. While the Garrett sales were before my time, people who did attend have told me that they then found this to be a superb quality piece. No one suggested that it has been doctored or even would be a candidate for doctoring. What is on PennyAnnie's mind in regard to this pattern?

    One of my all-time dream coins. The portrait is a fright, but the historical significance and "coolness" is off the charts. And, of course, it has the best motto ever!
