    You're looking in the wrong place total separation up to the right of the 4

    I think if it were the overdate you'd have seen it by now. It's unmistakable.

    They did not punch dates, so "repunching" is not an option.

    Neither. It's machine doubling.

    Certainly not the popular 42/1 overdate variety, but there is something going on at the bottom of the "4" (die scratch or die break), as well as the ghost doubled image at the top.
    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.
