Even if all of the purchases are real, and a few people decided to go super heavy into early Jordan (which is super rationale btw)... it would be asanine to be doing it like this. They're driving up the price against themselves. They could have been slowly buying over a few mos for the same prices....so hard to believe it's anything other than manipulation PLUS scared buying by "normal" people who are witnessing it
  • Cardlegends is also currently auctioning 2 PSA 9 MJ Stickers, PSA 8 MJ Sticker, 1987 Fleer MJ 9 and a Bonds Tiffany PSA 10 (which has also been really run up of late). I really wouldn't doubt if he is part of a large network of people that are running up a lot of the important cards in the hobby. I see 5___5 is also bidding on some of his stuff. What a shocker.
  • I agree that normal people are freaking out and bidding high adding fuel to this fire because they are seeing a rise but it’s the same eBay members constantly outbidding others on the same cards which makes no sense because again, they are bidding against themselves because then someone else (a legit bidder and potential buyer) will bid over them and then they repeat this process till it gets high enough and then they back off.

I understand this sort of thing happens all the time and in the end, nothing can really be done about it but it's getting annoying when you see the same eBay ID's popping up and bidding on the same cards over and over with no intent on purchasing. Only agenda is to drive up the market because they already own the card and I am sure they are planning to sell soon.

Plus, the fact that eBay has ZERO reprimand for non-bidders is outrageous. So what’s stopping someone from not bidding high and winning an auction with no intent on paying and you cant even leave negative feedback anymore. So of course this is going to continue.

** Oh, and bonds25gem (Steve Morrison) - you may want to also block that ID. That is one of Cardlegends alts. Remember, someone else (who I suspect is also in on this mentioned someone by the name of Steve so I know Bonds25gem and Cardlegends are the same people. He purchased my Jordan 87 for $25,000 to make it come down but I simply relisted. Nothing a quick call to eBay wont fix for me as far as removing the fee. I'll worry about that later in case it happens a few more times so I can remove them all in 1 shot and maybe even in the process have him and his 97% feedback removed off eBay.
  • It also looks like an a----o 548 Purple star is also involved. He is the underbidder on a lot of these cards.

omg there was a BIN for $38K for a PSA 10 (it's smart (in an evil way) to just do a bunch of a BIN that is your own listing since most buyers won't realize that it doesn't close?).

I don't see how this is anything other than a pump and dump scheme? (caveat being that these are still highly valuable and should be in the 20K range). I guess if you worked this right a group of guys could pocket 2-300K across all of these cards of "made up" value?

Why doesn't ebay get involved? It seems pretty obvious.

Successful coin BST transactions with Gerard and segoja.

It's better for their bottom line to appear ignorant.
  • For what it's worth, this is my card:

    87 Fleer Jordan PSA 9

I have had 10 different people make an offer on the card. One was legendscardco. He placed one of the higher offers on the card.

I also have this one up now:

1986 Fleer Jordan Sticker PSA 9

I have had offers from 3 different buyers.

Scanned the bar code with the PSA app and it pulled up 1951 Bowman Joe Page PSA 2. lol. Font looks off on the flip. And the card itself is a fake. No period between 27.2

I guess it was only a matter of time with the price runups to bring out a few more Jordans (both the good and the bad).

Reporting this one now. I think I will be scanning all my cards from here on out.

good catch indeed--and look at the 100% positive feedback for 77 happy buyers of his bike parts

this DB should be reported to the Feds

Nice catch Dan. That font on the PSA label looks horrible, and the blurred back keeps people from seeing there is no "." Between the 27 and the 2. Also, there was a very good post a while back that shows the 6-7 things to look for on Jordan rookies to catch fakes - if you Google it you should be able to find it. If I find it I will post it.

Interesting to see the 1987 psa 10 Jordan and psa 10 rookie. Both closing with him as top bidder. What will happen?

well he "won" the '87.....great news...... hopefully the underbidder read the warnings......what will happen? id imagine his retractions go up by one for this one....he won it for 6k after the last one ended at 6.2 so hopefully the 30% increases between cards slow down a bit........the crazy bidding/activity that occurs near the end time was absent and was eerily very quiet ...

...time to take note of the serial number (#21637591) and watch for when the '87 10 gets relisted......he's still winning the '86.....

my next "theory"....to correspond with his sudden increase in feedback, is that he's gonna win a bunch of small items to pad his feedback and try to seem legit.....and I'm sure he is a "great guy and has paid for 3 items" without problems......now lets see if he pays for these 30k and 6k items with the same legitimacy.....again, nothing makes sense with these bidding patterns if they were legit

...to those who have asked...i would back off on buying any of these with questionable bidding patterns or even at these price levels alone....this is the first time i've looked into 87's and for 5-6k I'd be buying '86 PSA 9s for the same money....more iconic (and economic)

great work everyone and lets keep it up..and watching other bidder ID's...not just one guy..... its all about credibility...and this is criminal!

Aside from potential negative feedback, is there any type of financial penalty assessed by Ebay for a bid retraction? I am assuming a seller can leave negative feedback on a bid retraction. And is the seller protected from getting negative feedback from the bid retractor? I have not been in this situation from either side fortunately, but I can see if the penalty is minimal it could be easy rig.

  • So I guess I was correct - It looks like cardlegends has now changed his ID to psalegends to try and get some attention off of him. I can't tell you how many positive messages I have received over the weekend from other eBay members saying what a dbag he is and how they suspected that this was going on with shill bidding on this card and how they are also now aware of the other shill bidder (who I assume is one of his buddies) 5***5 (336Feedback score is 100 to 499) along with other eBay member topshelftackle I suspect.

    Bidder: s***l ( 3691Feedback score is 1000 to 4,999)
    Feedback: 100% Positive
    Item description:
    Item Title:
1987 Fleer Michael Jordan #59 Psa 10 Gem Mint
    Bids on this item: 5

    30-Day Summary
    Total bids: 286
    Items bid on: 80
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 1% Help
    Bid retractions: 3
    Bid retractions (6 months): 5

I am going to list 5***5 (336Feedback score is 100 to 499) info below to keep track of what he also does in case he changes his ID, we can figure out what his new one is. Look at all those retractions.

    Bidder: 5***5 ( 336Feedback score is 100 to 499)
    Feedback: 100% Positive
    Item description:
    Item Title:
1987 Fleer Michael Jordan #59 Psa 10 Gem Mint
    Bids on this item: 9

    30-Day Summary
    Total bids: 375
    Items bid on: 124
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 2% Help
    Bid retractions: 12
    Bid retractions (6 months): 15

  • Looks like this rising tide is raising all boats. 8's seem to be moving to the $2k price range now. Might be the motivation to finally move mine.
