How do national shows differ from the larger regional shows?

At the bigger regional shows, you have cases and boxes full of endless raw and certified mostly collector grade 2 and 3 figure coins with some better stuff scattered about. Lots of it priced high, but with some fair deals hidden here and there.

How do national shows differ? If I'm not a high roller, would I be wasting my time shopping at a big national show?

Off the top I would say a National show would offer more elaborate exhibits. And also from an educational standpoint there are more seminars to partake in. And for viewing many high end coins,albeit possibly out of your price range,that you might not otherwise be exposed to.

The major national shows cater to the full time professional dealers. The regional shows will have many more part time, "sunday bourse" type dealers.

The larger national shows (e.g., ANA Worlds Fair of Money, FUN) are the venue for many collector organization annual meetings. The Liberty Seated Collectors Club, the John Reich Collectors Society, the Bust Half Nut Club, and many other organizations hold their membership meetings at the ANA Summer Convention.

Regional and local shows are great and often offer some good deals. The large national shows

are a different experience due to reasons listed above. Collectors should try to attend a national show when available for those reasons. Cheers, RickO

Obviously more dealers and should have higher attendance.

Much higher table fees plus travel costs. A dealer is buried in considerable expense before a single coin or banknote is sold. This can be stressful.
