Has the US Mint announced anything about a special set coming out this year like they did for the 20th, and 25th anniversaries?

Still no set announced, nothing on the product schedule. All collector versions of the ASE will be special this year, though.

25th at 100K was simply not enough,

300K took awhile to sell out so expect 200-300K

According to this HR 1698 bill summary, Text

ASE edge of proof and uncirculated versions is supposed to notate 30th Anny of the first issue of the design.

Also, the Sec of Treas gets to change the design of certain gold bullion coins, $20 gold buffaloes are eligible for tube packaging, USmint can make quarter dollars if 90% silver requirement is met, copper no longer necessary.

Summary: H.R.1698 — 114th Congress (2015-2016)

Bullion and Collectible Coin Production Efficiency and Cost Savings Act

(Sec. 2) This bill repeals: (1) the authority of the Secretary of the Treasury to change the design of certain gold bullion coins, and (2) requirements for the protective covering for certain bullion coins.

The copper content requirements for quarter dollar coins are repealed and the silver content is required to be not less than 90%.

Technical revisions are made to the requirements for palladium bullion investment coins.

(Sec. 3) Proof and uncirculated versions of American Eagle silver coins issued during calendar year 2016 shall have a smooth edge incused with a designation that notes the 30th anniversary of the first issue of such coins.

Yes, it was a transportation bill. (Search on "TITLE LXXIII".)

Note the palladium wording never made it to the final bill.
