It reminds me that I can't grade worth a crap, to me both the Ripken and Raines look like 10's.

Ok two options I enjoy 1980's stuff and modern so I am offer in an option of each. If neither is taken by 10:30 cst I will offer a different item.

    1) All BBCE 1986 Donruss-1987 Donruss and 1987 Fleer three box combo

    image

    Or

    2) BGS 9.5 1998 Finest Rookie Peyton Manning - BGS 9.5 Winston Leaf Rookie Autograph with 10 autograph- the third item came from the topps online store in 2008 and only five exist. It is hand numbered 1/5 on the back. It is PSA/DNA cut autograph of a German fighter pilot. that I thought was cool and even has stats on the back.

Yup...I know a number of items have been over the $75 top threshold, but a $30k+ is okay, right. The fight on CU that would occur if that popped up in a PIF thread...

offering #1: high grade 1981 OPC Gray Back starter set....81 gray backs are really tough to come by, especially in high grade, and this is a sweet lot of cards all pack pulled by me...the lot consists of (6) PSA 9's, (1) 8.5, (26) raw mint cards i had set aside for grading, and (125) pack fresh cards that are sharp but have the typical opc centering(many look like straight 8s and 9oc)

    Hi Patrick,

I will take the 81 Gray back set and I will post my offering tonight when I get home from work so I can take photos.

I was thinking of offering 1970 or 1971 or 1973 Topps baseball starter lots if anyone is interested, also have a small group of 1971 Topps PSA 7's if anyone is working on a registry set.

    Great thread!

  • waxman2745waxman2745 Posts: 764 ✭✭✭
Sorry for the delay folks, I'm struggling with how to upload a photo to this thread :/
I have two options that I would like to offer:

    1. a nice group of 75 different cards NM from 1969 Topps baseball
    2. a partial set of 450 different cards VG from 1970 Topps baseball

I tried searching but found that I have to create a photobucket account to link to these forums. Are there any other options?
    Thanks!

  • Adam, I'm not sure if what you are offering qualifies by what I remember reading in the rules. Can someone help me out here?

Edited to add: but far be it from me to stop someone from claiming what you are putting up.

I thought items offered up had to be either professionally graded or BBCE authenticated?

Hi, you are both correct image I just dug up and re-read the rules from the original thread and I will post something that qualifies tonight within my 48 hour window image

I still cannot post the rules for some strange reason. Can someone re-post?

Technically my '75 mini wax pack was not BBCE authenticated but it was from miniduff's recent box rip with several members present so I thought it qualified. Someone PM'd me about the '81 grey backs. But I thought that was OK due to some being graded and it being a rarer item.

But it's best to stick to the rules --

  • vintagefunvintagefun Posts: 1,974 ✭✭✭
I think so long as we give additional options after 24 hours, we can allow some leniency. The 81s and the 75 pack went quick...so there is some appetite for items outside the stated rules. But let's do our best to stay in line. Or maybe say if an item doesn't meet stated rules that a new offering be lobbed after 12 hours. Just a thought.

Waxman--time to switch up your offering.

Let's get this going again today
  • Would love to grab that Nolan and offer up. I saw your perspective on low count posters though flatfoot.
  • waxman2745waxman2745 Posts: 764 ✭✭✭
HaveLearned, that sounds great! Which Nolan, 1971 or 1979? If you are a Ryan fan, i will throw in a 1977 PSA 7 and some other goodies for helping me keep this thread going!

The rules have always been set with minimum posts required. It's a fail safe. If you are offended--best thing to do is become a little more active with the boards.
  • vintagefunvintagefun Posts: 1,974 ✭✭✭
I'd let him roll for what it's worth. He's hooked me up in the past albeit under a different name, but id be willing to see what's offered to keep thread rolling. My 2 cents.

For what it's worth, if somebody does not meet the minimum posts/join date, it could required that the person they are shipping to receives the item before the item they claimed can be sent. So basically they would have to wait longer than those that have been on the board and active.
  • Maddux, now that's the way to approach this. Totally understood and acceptable about shipping first. No issue sending to Waxman before anything else.

Still though a little leery now on flatfoots approach. I would have no issue either if you just tell me not to partake. Would think it silly but would honor you lords request.

Waxman ! Would the Mantle below be fair in trade for the 1979 Nolan 9 ? Dang thing was a 4, cracked out. .and Voila' a two now.

If interested please PM an address and I will send it out. (or do I have this wrong and someone else takes it now)

I agree with Manny on the idea of keeping with the rules. If he is okay with it, I do like Jason's idea that HL doesn't get his card until the next person receives his offering.

HL - The way it works is that if you are posting this Mantle as an offering, another CU member has to come to this thread and claim your item. Then that person posts an offering and a different person claims that item. It is just paying it forward. If Manny is okay with it, then your Mantle would have to get claimed and received by the next person, before your Nolan Ryan is shipped to you.

HaveLearned - that Ryan has a VCP of ~$75.00 and the Mantle ~$55.00, so it does fit into the rules of this thread.

Manny, I think if HaveLearned agrees to send out his card first that should be OK.

HaveLearned - I'm curious about one thing. To me that card would be a very generous grade if it were sitting in a "4" slab. Did you crack it out thinking it would have graded higher?
