Maybe it was the harsh lighting but some of those coins looked whizzed.

Good video, Kenny. So, now that you have had a chance to take a look at the coins, how do you feel about the purchase? Are you happy with it? Did you find any scarce varieties? How about the 1887-O?

Looks like several of them would go as cleaned at least. What do you say Kenny?

Are they guaranteed to be gradeable and uncleaned?

    Kenny's dad here.

The cuticles are being treated. The high definition and strong light make them look worse than they are. Thanks for your concern.

An 87-o in that grade really isn't worth THAT much more than other commons is it? Or are you talking about VAMs?

I'd guess that most of these have been searched over time, but there might be a decent probability of VAMs.

People have posted pics here in the past from eBay sellers who had really funky looking fingers which is why I noticed it.

Here is what I get it a kick out of:

if you ever sell morgans to these type companies, they are very strict as to what meets there min grade for the assigned price, and whether they have evidence of old cleaning, etc

but it sure looks like they don't hold to the same standars when selling them

Nice video, Kenny. It's always fun to open up a roll see what varieties you can find. Enjoy!

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all the comments.

A couple of the coins are definitely cleaned. The high definition and the very harsh lighting are making many of the coins look cleaned even though they have not been. I would grade most of the coins XF with none of them grading higher. APMEX's price was somewhere in the mid $20 or so when my dad purchased this box a few weeks ago so they did not charge an excessive amount.

Whether it is 90% or purchases like this, my dad is making his purchases with stacking in mind. Along with normal college savings, he is stacking silver too. With my love of numismatics, it gives me a chance to find a few gems here and there. Over the past three years, it has been definitely worthwhile. I will leave it up to my dad to decide on whether or not he will send the cleaned coins back to APMEX for an exchange.

Between many of the coins looking cleaned and my fingernails looking scary, I will definitely be changing the lighting in my next video. Everything was greatly magnified.

    Thanks so much for watching.

    Kenny

Cool video Kenny! Don't worry man, fingers can be fixed but cleaned coins cannot image I respect your decision to leave it up to your pops to decide on whether or not some will be returned. Keep up the good work kiddo image

    Just for information.

Some of those dollars would sell as culls on the wholesale markets.

You could do better if you were at the FUN show and look thru larger dealers cull inventory.

This is common when buying from mail order internet sites.

    A lot of O-Mints.
As stated by PTVETTER, you would do better at a show rummaging.
    Thanks for the video.

Great effort from a YN. If this represents the future of the hobby it is indeed bright.

Good opportunity to pick some vams tons of them are in lots yet to be noticed.

These lots are going to have cleaned and lightly damaged coins like the edge dings and minor damage there pretty much bullion lots. Some nice coins hide among these lots though.

    great series of videos image

I am very well aware of what a circ 87-O is worth. Kenny said something about the 7/6 variety and said he'd check it later. Just trying to see what he found. I am also very well aware of the quality of the lot APMEX sent, which is why I asked, in a delicate manner, how he felt about the purchase. Remember, you are talking to a YN, so you do have to be a little sensitive while teaching at the same time.

I thought it was a nice lot of coins. The 97-O and 96-O really surprise me, along with a few of the others I thought it was a strong roll. Going through loose Morgan's at shows, you wont find these dates in dealers "common" bulk lots for sale. A good lot of coins. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, it was not a 7/6 variety. Almost all seasoned collectors are great to YNs so that is a good thing. Over the years, we have found some good coins from APMEX and others. My dad shops around for these bulk purchases paying close to spot as possible. Our true collecting takes place at shows and local dealers we trust. On the Morgans, he thought it would be fun for me to see if I got lucky finding a VAM or an undergraded coin.

That looked like fun, thanks for posting.

Lol@ the "you'd do better at shows crowd"

It's FUN to go through a random pile of your dads coins. Don't any of you remember raiding dad or gramp's change jar looking for a 1955 DDO? I sure did. I still like to sift through the piles of cull Morgans and Peace I've accumulated over the years. It's fun. Coins don't need to be perfect, totally original, or cherry picked out of a dealer's junk box to be fun.

Good video kid. Keep em coming.

Nice selection of dates. Reminds me of getting Silver Dollars from the bank, back in the early 1960's ,to look for dates that I needed.

Nice video...I always enjoy looking through stuff like that even though the chances of finding anything that slipped through the cracks is thin. At a local show there used to be a big dealer who would have a couple bags of Morgans and Peace $ that I would go through and occasionally would find a coin or two that was worth more than their asking price. Fun to treasure hunt!!
