2016 Proof Set

Received my 2016 Proof Set from the Mint.
Only 3 presidential Dollars, since no living person can be on the coins. Nixon, Ford and Reagan.
I'm happy.

The end of the Prez series is a good thing.
HAPPY COLLECTING
Do you think they will start a new series since the president's are over now or do you think they will wait a few years?
I hope not. I'm tired of gimmicks being included in Mint and Proof Sets.
so you arent ready for the great mayors half dollar series?
Mayors, Governors, Senators, Congresspersons, Supreme Court Justices..
the list goes on.
They did first spouses, for sake, not to mention the recent past and recent "commemorative" coins
Not putting anything past them.
Not sorry to see the President series take a break, pretty disappointed that they stopped minting them for circulation at face, as that is how I was collecting them

They should have taken more time on the states and celebrated each one with a silver dollar. The quarter thing was just too cheap.
Agreed! That would have been a much better way to showcase the designs.

But I hear they are still going strong, especially Carter.
I don't know what could be next for the quarters and dollars.
How about a series of all the American Flags. 25 or so flags?
That would last a few years worth on quarters, but better on half-dollars

Yes. If failing to introduce coin collecting to millions of people was the goal.
Well, if Carter and the elder Bush pass away this year, they could have 2 more presidential dollars.

Not sure if they could....not sure if there is anything saying how long they would have to be gone before they could be done.
I, for one, am just glad it is over....FINALLY!
And, to the flags. NO. It really doesn't get people that interested and it allows the hucksters to find new ways to screw over people.
Yearly changing designs on the reverse of the gold bucks is bad enough.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I agree with you - took a lot of the fun out of that when they stopped circulating. Change from the Metro stations was a good place to get them as was the Post Office until they switched to all electronic.

They'll do anything in favor to the cult of personality over liberty, freedom, and justice.

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Well, if Carter and the elder Bush pass away this year, they could have 2 more presidential dollars.
A president must be deceased for at least two years to be eligible to appear on a presidential dollar.

in terrible for a long time now...Cheers, RickO

Pretty sure that they wanted a circulating coin, one that would be handled by the average citizen. The dollar coin will not truly circulate until we have enough inflation for it to have the purchasing power of the current quarter.
And maybe not even then. Current dollar coins have the purchasing power of a 1979 quarter, but they still do not appear in general circulation. The cent is worth 1/25 of what it was worth a century ago, and it's still our smallest denomination. Coinage circulation patterns appear highly resistant to inflationary trends.
