    I'm still dumbfounded about how a 3.1 copper plan ended up in a batch of zincs seven years later.

    When Daniel Carr bought his coin press used from the Denver Mint, he found a bunch of misc. planchets down inside the base when he disassembled it to rebuilt it. Perhaps a coin press in the Mint got a major overhaul and whoever took it apart just threw the planchets he found back into the pipeline.

    Another thing is that this cent is in an older holder, solid gasket. I must have missed it's introduction to the coin community back then.
