Redfield Mansion as it sits today...

I was in Reno today for Easter and drove by the Redfield Mansion on Mt. Rose Street. The sun was in my eyes so I did the best that I could. The first picture is the mansion with the famous iron gate. The mansion is somewhat small and made from river rock from the Truckee River. It has been abandoned for over forty years but has been well maintained. There are now about two dozen homes built on the property that match the mansion. It is in a nice part of old Reno.

This is the famous iron gate and steps that LaVere walked up with his bags of silver dollars.

This is the right side of the house...I believe the coal shute is under the last window.

That's it...Happy Easter.

Disregard the link...I need to learn how to post a link in the future. Everything I know about the mansion is local lore. But...if you google 'who owns the redfield mansion in reno', there is a nice article.

edited to add...The article says that a family member lives there now but the interior looks somewhat bare. The Redfield family and Foundation have done many great things for area residents.
Thanks for the post. There is more to coin collecting than just coins.
