Springfield Illinois Coin Show Sun Mar 20

LewLew Posts: 171 ✭✭✭
There will be a medium sized coin show (~70 dealers) in Springfield, Illinois this Sunday March 20. Time is 9am to 4pm. Location is Northfield Center I at the corner of Illinois 54 and Dirksen Parkway. Take the Sangamon exit (exit 100B) from I-55.
Once you get on to Dirksen Parkway there are usually signs pointing to the coin show.

Darn. I wish that I had known about it sooner. It would have been a good reason to visit relatives and play with coins.

I got to the show a few minutes before 9:00 am. There was a group of about 15-20 people waiting to get in.
The floor was active with a fair amount of people -- the aisles are not real wide so at some tables it was alternating people to get past the the crowded areas.
Like most shows this size it is about 90% the same dealers every show. While I was looking at Morgan dollars at a couple of tables there was buying and selling between dealers and collectors. I did not notice any dealer to dealer buying/selling.
I left a little after noon and there was still a good sized crowd.
I did see DIMEMAN at one table but did not know it was him until the dealer and I were talking about this posting and I said that DIMEMAM was planning on being at the show and the dealer said "That was DIMEMAN here at my table a few minutes ago".
So all in all this is a good active medium sized show -- next show is Sunday, Jul 24 same time, same place.

I won't be at that show. My next show is Central States next month. Are you going to that one?

There is a show of about 45 tables in Pekin, IL on April 10 at the Moose Lodge. I plan on attending that one at least just to look around.

I have not been to the Pekin, IL show. Won't be able to make it this year.
At the Springfield Show I was told that the Milan, IL coin show was a good show.
I looked it up and it is the Quad City Coin Club Show on Apr 3. Won't be able to make the Milan show either.
