My parents had a bird similar to the one illustrated when I was a kid. However, I definitely will not be buying that so-called "coin." My goodness, what will the Canadian mint think of next? Maybe a 3-d appreciation of the Sports Illustrated swim suit issue?
More seriously, I think novelty issues such as this perhaps attract a few new people to buy the specific coin but subtract from long-term collectors.

Not in a geographical sense, but these are produced by the Royal Canadian Mint which is actually part of Canada. It's even IN Canada and run by Canadians, eh.

I went to my "other" job this morning.
Took photos of wild naturalized Parrots that live in my neighborhood this morning.
Hideous, but the RCM jumped the shark like a decade ago, so this doesn't surprise me.
Exactly what most Canadians (me included) have thought.
