I am trying an experiment. I have listed 2 pretty expensive ($1000+) coins on eBay.
No Reserve.
Starting off at 1c
No games.
No shilling (obviously!).
Both Auctions end this Sunday night, February 21st at around 9PM EST.
If these coins do OK, I may do more of these.
If it is a complete disaster for me, I'd rather someone in the PCGS chatroom get the benefit of a below market purchase, rather than some anonymous eBay buyer.
Go for it! or -- watch and see if it is a train wreck! Either way -- enjoy this great, entertaining hobby of ours.

The 1861 Half dime looks like the one that came from a private mebane, NC auction and if so is quite nice!!!
That is exactly where it came from. I flew down there to (unsuccessfully) bid on the 1776 Continental Dollar in that sale, and I fell in love with that coin. I asked the owner of the auction house where it came from, and he said it came in raw with a bunch of other nice coins from an old time Southern collection. The auction house sends everything to NGC.
Here is a link to that auction:

It sold for $1595 in that auction 3 months ago, incl. the 10% buyer's fee.
As a side note, the Barber Half I am selling is pedigreed to our very own Boosbri. He said he purchased it raw in Europe and sent it in to PCGS himself. The first photo of it is from Boosbri, as a matter of fact.

Hah!
Sorry Robertpr.
My kids have gotta eat, so I'm ttt-ing this thread.
If it makes you feel better, the present bids total $600 less than I paid a short while ago for those 2 nice coins.
But - if the bids stay there, that's just life in the coin biz.

I bit on it when it sold in the prior auction, but bailed at 1200 hammer. It was a nice coin with nice color. I lost my customer that would have been interested in it since the last auction to cancer, so I just token bidded this time and kept an eye- on it. Luckily dave didn't loose too much. (being the truly nice guy he is)
Up to $1600 on the half dime with 30 min to go. For ebay that's pretty strong bidding. I don't know if it would have gotten there without listing it on the Forum. It would seem that a couple of bidders used your November auction buy price as a "reference."
Interesting point about possibly using the "reference". Regardless, looks like one heck of a coin.
Is $1600 a strong price for this coin? It isn't a series I follow closely, so I really don't know, I'm genuinely curious. Just a quick cursory search and this coin looks (based solely on the pictures) a lot nicer than what appear to be comparable coins from the Heritage archives (e.g. Heritage).
