Thanks. Not especially rare but an interesting issue. It's a 1927 Pretoria, South Africa gold sovereign. As with all modern sovereigns, it's "crown gold". That's 22k or 91 2/3% pure. I was shooting it in natural light as the sun set, on the back of one of the 10 ounce silver bars posted above. I take for granted the depth of the design, but you can really see how complex the variances are in this near-dusk image.
