Nice to see the seller himself ended the auction and not eBay.

Perhaps the seller was duped too.

You can see the seller did not show the entire front of the slab keeping most of the label hidden. After seeing only the numbers they look very different from a real PCGS slab.

There sure are some astute people in this forum, way to look out.

VERY OLD HOLDER, HAS SCRATCHES AND MARKS. COIN IS A LITTLE LOOSE IN THE HOLDER. NICE COIN!

With that description they should have stated: lousy holder, not sure about the coin...lol.

It's not even an old holder. The coin shouldn't be "loose" as it's not a rattler. The seller has been on ebay for about 11 months. All of these suggests to me that they knew what this "coin" was.

So, what appears to be a mint state coin in a VF25 holder wasn't a clue to the seller?
Surprised he didn't submit it to see if he could get the coveted gold CAC sticker on it image

The first "tip off" should be the coin was obviously undergraded that badly.

Counterfeiters aren't very good at grading coins.

    I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.

The same seller has a lot of ICG and self-slabbed Morgans for sale.

Seller also had one raw coin with a numerical grade (spelled M S64, maybe to try and get around the algorithm) and another listed in search as PCGS, which it isn't. Keep an eye on this guy.

What is interesting is that I looked up the number on the slab and it actually matches the coin by date and grade. I wonder where the real VF 25 1889-CC is?
