Just from the looks side of things, not thinking grade or value, I like number 1. The design just pops out more from the fields to me. I find the field chatter and heavy die polish in no. 2 somewhat distracting.

I prefer coin #1 because of fewer distracting contact marks and circulation scratches on the obverse and what appears to be some semi-prooflike field luster with light cameo contrast between devices and fields, as compared to the second coin. -- I also find the cross-hatched pattern of intersecting contact marks on the obverse of coin #2 to be more distracting to my eye.



I wouldn't be surprised if the more eye appealing coin (#1) is graded AU-58, and if coin (#2) is graded lower mint state (60 or 61).

I chose 1 as well.



The marks are fairly distracting on both, (but not uncommon for large coins with open fields). But those on #2 seem to be intentional, exist even in protected areas, and to me indicative of cleaning, whereas the marks on #1 have more of a random, "these things happen" look to them.

And I like obverse 2, where the device of Ms. Liberty pops much better and she is better struck up (despite the field issues). Also Lib in 1 appears to be mentally challenged, or whatever the PC term is, and 2 more normal.



For those voting on 1 - take a look again at the facial expression especially....

I voted 'Neither, keep looking', mainly because I've seen the quality of coins you have and don't think either of these measures up. They're both good coins, but not what I would call great, I'd hold out for a great one.

Hmm. Tough as both coins have different looks, both of which can be appreciated. Both appear to be sliders. I assume coin 1 is PL in hand, and have a little preference towards it, as the fields on coin 2 look a bit more rubby. But seated dollars come with all different kinds of "fabric", so I hate buying from pics as there isnt a general look thats expected. I'd want to see in hand.
