Which image host platform are you using for your images?

SkyManSkyMan Posts: 9,493 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've been using Photobucket for years for hosting my images that I will later post to the boards. It seems to have gotten MUCH slower since their upgrade ~ 6 - 12 months ago. I'm getting sick and tired of the waiting. Which image hosting platform do you use, and do you like it? FWIW, I'm using a Mac with OS/X.

I'm Win 7 and chrome/firefox. I too use photobucket and do agree that the slowdowns are about to drive me away. The ads they say do not slow down the uploads but I do not believe them one iota.

I do not pay for photobucket, just use the free version.

Same here, SkyMan. Photobucket can be annoying sometimes. But it's better than the others I've tried. (Mac & OS/X)

I use photobucket and it is a bulky, slow site. Frustrating.

    Win 8.1, IE?

Also, Safari on an old iPad

Is it a difference between "free" and "paid"?

I only use it for free but have noticed it is really slow. I try not to use it much.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I've been using Collective Coin (Link). Free, created by forum member scubafuel, easy to use, and coin-specific. I'm surprised more people don't use it considering the issues with Photobucket. You really ought to give it a shot.

I used to use my ISP that gave me 50 GB of storage for hosting pictures, but they changed that feature for 50 GB of back-up storage through their application.

So I use Photobucket now. I wouldn't pay for it and just ignore the ads

I use Photobucket when I have to. Imgur appears to host 85% of the images content on reddit.

It's a data collection world, next stop, sell not the image, sell the data. MHO.

To be clear, I am not promoting either site.

I have a Dropbox account that I use to store files but am not aware that you can use it to post a photo on this forum.

Can you explain how that is done?

Put the image in the "Public" folder and copy and past the link. Be careful about http and https.

Collectivecoin.com is fantastic. Photobucket is terrible. I have no idea why anyone here would continue to use it.

Familarity. I use photobucket as well, free version, and I agree that their video ads DO slow down the upload process. Then again...it is free. I may have to give collectivecoin a try.

(update from work) Oh yeah, I just found out another reason that I don't use collectivecoin...it is BLOCKED at work, along with Imugr, tinypics and various other imaging sites...except photobucket.

I stand corrected. That is a pretty good reason! (Although maybe your employer disagrees.)

I just switched to Imgur this week from Photobucket (Mac OS), so too early to tell.

I can no longer even see my images in my Photobucket library.

Photobucket...easy, a snap to upload and I like the feature that lets you cut the URL of choice. The whole concept is built around images stored there at other locations.

Also, directory/sub-directory creation is a snap...helps keep me organized online.
