Gotta work but hope to sneak in a short visit.

Thanks for mentioning.
I have a tournament for the boy, in Tacoma, but will try to hit it on the way back in late morning.

I'll be there after the doilie birds.

Other than the PNNA show this is usually the best in the area for the year.
This year found me heading north instead of south and the weekend being consumed with football.
Go Hawks!
Anyway, since I only have enough stuff for one case, and I will have 2 cases, was thinking of using the second one for show consignments so non table holders can display their stuff to the public and realize a better price. Good idea, constructive criticism?
Today, I was there, looked around, and spent exactly $0.
I didn't see much that piqued my interest. A lot of common looking, and really were common, coins. Some that looked nice, but were priced WAY up there. I saw some $10-$20 sales going on in the short 70 or so minutes I was there, but not much else. I'm sure there were sales though, as the bourse was quite busy.
Saw 5 doilies. All very common. $200+ each. All in the same seller's area. This seller has grown from 2 cases to ~12+ cases over the last 4-5 years. Good for him. Just "interesting" on the pricing and what he has. Saw a toned quarter for $400 (raw) in his case as well. Saw a lot of coins (toned) that he had last year (I liked them then, but the prices were high....nothing has changed on those coins, which is why I recognized them).
Talked to some dealers I recognized, and that was nice. Heard some dealers say they weren't putting out some of the gold coins they had (classics, like $2.5) because they didn't want to sell at a loss. Other dealers were talking about trades to each other and about some people (dealers) they knew and sold coins to, taking a LONG time to pay for said coins.
I hope others that went had a good day. For me, it was worth it to try, but I walked away empty.
Tomorrow, I feel sorry for the dealers.....a Sunday on the bourse, on a day when the Seahawks are playing a playoff game.....usually = ghosttown on the bourse when that happens....

Did you get a sense that the dealers might not stick around on Sunday??
I'll be there 10am Sunday...that's right, Seahawks kickoff time. I can miss a quarter or two. That game is really a coin flip.

I think they will....I didn't hear much talk about things other than last year was a ghost town (vs Green Bay) and expected to be this year, but some of the dealers were talking about coming back and doing some dealer-to-dealer anyway, so I think some/most will be there. None said anything about NOT being there, that I heard.
Geez Bochi you made it sound reeeeal exciting.
I tried to spice it up from what it was like today. For all of these I have gone to, this one just felt the most "ho-hum" to me.
Could be because I expected some more realistic prices, when I just wanted to find something to go home with. Could be because I was going more specialized and not finding those things (EAC). Could be because too many of the dealers, and you will recognize when you see the inventory, have the same old same old.
There were some more double mint sets ('47-58) than normal. Even when they looked pretty original (with beat up packaging to boot, on some), none of them jumped out at me. I've seen, and have, better....cheaper.
You always seem to find something cool, so I have faith in you

Bochiman, I love the Washington area and have always had a successful Tukwila show. I have thought about trying this show but have heard mixed reviews. Knowing the type of material I have, do you think it would be a worthwhile show for me to set up at?
Honestly? Yes, you would probably still do ok with what you have. Cents are pretty popular. If you do ok at the Tukwila, you would probably do ok at the Boeing show.
While I saw a lot of raw lincolns (and some IHCs), I saw a lot fewer (but they were still there) slabbed Lincolns (and some IHCs). I really didn't see any proof IHCs...might have missed a few.
So, your material, concentrated as you have it, would have likely gotten traction.
The show could still be a very good selling show for dealers. I was only there for a bit over an hour. Maybe they sold some killer coins that made the day, or a lot of common stuff, but I just didn't see anything really sell while I was there. Lot of talking.....about Boeing, planes, Seahawks, actual war stories, ....and some about coins.

I frequently bought coins there. That and the Tukwila PNNA show were the best each year.
Charmy, I think you would do well there....Cheers, RickO
31-0 at the half?? Ouch!
Anyways, I was there this morning....veeeery quiet to start (though it picked up a bit while I was there) and the first thing I heard at 10:15 coming through the door was from the security guard: "7-0, Panthers already scored!" Ug.
Some pretty coins to be found here and there...but you had to search. Member Segoa had an amazing PF67CAM Morgan at his table...wow what an incredible coin. Mike Howe had a 65DCAM Lib 5C that he has been carting around for a while...gorgeous deeeeep black and white blazer. I saw a lot of Morgans, generic gold, and Barber circulated type.
Didn't end up pulling the trigger on anything. I was close on a couple of Morgan widgets with pizazz.
Unfortunately a number of empty tables compared to years past.
Still it was fun...always fun out there in the wild.
BECC members get (or at least used to get) preference on tables. This means a lot of 'dealers' who aren't prefessionals. Selling off personal collections, duplicates, etc. It made for a very unusual show. But selling off personal collections can mean a lot of common material.

I've loved the BECC show, unfortunately no longer working in the PNW means no show for me.

Agreed, but it was precisely because of the BECC members that I enjoyed the shows before. Some were interesting to talk to, and some never set up anywhere else and often had other than "widget" coins.
My son's tournament ran all day, and I did think of trying to drop by the show for day 2, to see if I missed anything, but it doesn't sound like I did.
Seattleslammer....."Mike Howe"? I know John Howe...is this someone else?
