PCGS has just sent me an email suggesting I contact customer service to resolve the "refund" issue. I suspect that since each of us have different expiration dates, each of us will have different desires about this. I am a LONG TIME subscriber to both membership and Coin Facts. As such I am "locked-in" to a $49 a year Silver membership and the $95 a year Coin Facts subscription. Since my Coin Facts subscription expires on August 3rd, I have a six month (February thru July) refund coming. So I figure also that PCGS doesn't want to send out checks to everyone for the refund. What they probably want to do is provide credit of some sort. A fair credit for ME would be to extend my membership another year from July 1, 2016 to July 1, 2017. $95/6 months = $47.50. My yearly membership is $49. Fair deal? Let's see what PCGS thinks when I call. I'm in no rush. Steveimage

I got the email as well, but mine expires on January 30th, so right before it is "free". I will call to make sure they do not "renew" it despite it being free.

Kind of a disappointing "REFUND" answer. I renewed mine in late August/September 2015 so 5 months ago for the $149.00.

According to PCGS Customer Service, you only get a refund if you renewed or purchased the subscription 90 days prior to January, 2016. So if you did not renew or purchase it during October-December 2015 you get nothing.

Does not seem quite fair as you would think you would get a monthly credit or grading vouchers or something as in my case I lose any refund because of 1 month.

I would have thought it would have been broke into 12 months $149.00/12 = $12.50 and the months of credit would be for was was not covered. In my case 8 months.

Apparently that is too hard for a company the size of PCGS but I guess they can't please everyone which is kind of disappointing as you would think you would get something.

Particularly disappointing that they sent the email asking everyone to call, only to be told no prorated refund unless you just renewed. Seems as if I'll be paying for CoinFacts for about 4 months while it's free to others... was not expecting that to be the position of PCGS after receiving that email from them...

I plan to PM Don Willis on this. See my post above. The LOGIC is WRONG. You do not penalize some paying members while you refund others. Steveimage

Steve, I hope you get somewhere as the call with customer service left kind of a nasty taste in my mouth and opinion of PCGS.

It's not hundreds or thousands of dollars, but it's just bad company policy IMO but again, it's not my company and they can do what they want I guess.

Good Luck as I'm sure that there are plenty of us out there in the same boat !!

    I agree...that doesn't sound right....mine was 9/18/2015, and there is 242 days left right now. That's over 1/2 year.

IMHO, there should be a pro-rated monetary value extension of one's membership. So, if my potential refund was 25% of the value of my membership, then it would get extended by 3 months.

Steve, you should loop in Mark Stephenson as well.

As I read everyone's situation as well as Don Willis letter to CALL customer service, it is NOW evident to me that this decision was NOT made at the top level of the organization. The information that Customer Service is telling everyone is probably been made by their management. But it is NOT logical or fair. It is important for those of us who feel that the refund should be based on the number of months that they have already paid for but are now FREE to all members get that point to Don. I don't believe that Don Willis agreed to a 3 month cut-off. If he did, he would have said it in his letter, not tell everyone to call customer service. THIS CAN BE CHANGED IN MY OPINION. Steveimage

I hope you guys are right and middle management made this decision of which I'm sure Don will overturn once he hears about it but I still think it will take time. Pretty large boat to turn after a decision has been made but I have seen things happen quickly in some instances.

I wish us all "Good Luck" !!

There are many who feel that those who have paid subscriptions that extend beyond beyond Feb 2016 should receive a refund for those months...and you can count me among them.

So What do the members think that PCGS will charge for the New Green Labels?

My guess its not going to be a regular reholder fee of 12 bucks.

I wonder if I'll get a calendar next year, since I only get it now due to my CoinFacts subscription?
  • PTVETTERPTVETTER Posts: 6,028 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have a dealer # and a subscription and I did not get a calendar this year.

Point #2 I called customer service and they said something will happen the first week of Feb. but they have no idea of what that is .

John, after reading all comments on both of the threads regarding this subject, and seeing how hard it is with the new version of FUSETALK to send a private message to Don Willis, I decided to wait until February 3rd's official anniversary at Long Beach. I am sure this issue will be addressed by many current Coin Facts subscribers at the show whose current memberships expire sometime between February and October. Give EVERY current member a refund and don't make an arbitrary decision to just give those current members whose subscriptions happen to expire between November, 2016 and January 2017 the refund. That is the obvious fair way to resolve this, ESPECIALLY if the refund will be done via the member's credit card automatically. Steveimage

I hope someone gets Don Willis' response (if he hasn't already got wind of this subject, which I am fairly certain he already has), both facial and verbal, on video...that may be interesting. I bet the walls would be packed with flies ("fly on the wall") in that room.
