Why in the world would anyone keep this set if a coin is out of the capsule and has no holder from the mint.. Looks like its been handled a ton. Same as the other he has for sale. Thoughts

Coins look better in hand. I can't see it.

On occasion mint capsules have popped open during shipping to the customer. Very possible coin toned naturally if his statement that he very rececently opened the sealed box is true. the fact that he states the coin is "not mint" and that he has listed this set for less than the other, complete set leads me to believe what he says.

On one of my 5 sets of those, one of the coins came loose in the box. I opened it a few months later and one side of it had toned quite a bit, a light yellow/gold color.

I bought a five coin American Eagle set from a board member and never looked at it until about a year ago. Shocked by what I found, I posted it here (on the boards, some time ago). It captured the interest of one of our more illustrious members; Stefanie (coinsarefun), but I don't feel like posting pics since it's unrelated. Still can't see what the discussion is about. I do know what I found when I found it. Dark purple on both sides. Believe it or not.

no doubt the toning is a result of the raw coin being sealed up with the mint packaging where it absorbed all that color.

Time to quit using the taco bell napkins and start using mint packaging. image

A lady who brought in gold scrap today also had 4 shiny coins from the Civil War Era. 1861 S Seated Liberty half, along with 3 other coins. She sold the scrap , but when I asked who cleaned the coins, she answered , "I did, just yesterday with my silver polishing cloth. Why ? "

It was then I explained the drawback to cleaning and needless to say I suggested she put them in a Taco Bell Napkin for about 3 years and then contact me to see how they turned out. image Truth. I got a witness.

For the record, after opening up several sealed boxes of 5 sets back in 2011 not only were some of the coins out of the capsules but the capsules in some boxes were still sealed without the coin inside. Thus they were poorly packaged, never put into the capsules to begin with and hadn't simply popped out the the capsules...unless whodini was in there...

Based on reports, he could be telling the truth, however, I just do not like his "No Return'

    policy.... Cheers, RickO
