Having a good time at the 2016 FUN show.
Enjoyed a round of golf with Boiler78 at the TPC Tampa getting to the bourse around 4PM.
Yesterday was dealer set up - slow on the bourse with many dealers either not set up or doing wholesale activity.
Today PCGS set up the sample display that has been discussed here earlier. It was fun to see the brochure that BJ and PCGS came up with. The 4 flaps are sealed with a velcro closure and opens to reveal the sample. Gayle and Cosetta along with Dave were great in setting it up and after a few adjustments, it looks good.
It will also be set up at the Long Beach show in February. There will be 1250 brochures/Samples at each show but the LB show will likely have the 2016 cent rather than 2015.

Tomorrow is the PCGS Luncheon - looking forward to seeing the Luncheon slab.
Was 0/2 on reconsiderations with PCGS.
Bourse looked busy today - will leave it to the dealers to report on activity, etc. Saw at least 2 coins I would love to own and will go back for a second look tomorrow.
HA Platinum night was tonight - no purchases to report but enjoyed lot viewing and the auction activity. It was fun to see a lot of old friends that were auctioned in the Tom and Jean Fore collection.

Interesting PCGS luncheon today. They surprised us all by having 4 different denominations in the 30th Anniv. holders - 5c through 50c. So, some of us had to scramble to get all 4. After completing the set, I couldn't get anyone else to sell or swap. An unnamed member tried buying slabs after the lunch but was shooed away by the PCGS staff (I'll let him post....).
After it all, I was showing a friend the 4 slabs and he pointed out the error date in the Kennedy 50c - they were all supposed to be 1986, the year PCGS began business. Just dumb luck on my part.

Had a good time visiting with several non-forum and forum members to include Boiler78, Keyman64, Pistareen, Regulated, George Kellogg, EERC, BWRC, Aurora Borealis, CRO, Dave Wnuck, TahoeDale, StuartBlayNumismatics and others that I'm blanking on their forum handles at this moment this moment......
Also had several texts from Oreville.
Didn't buy much numismatic wise but did enjoy watching several of my favorite fleagles sell in the Tom and Jean Fore collection last night. Seemed like the material that wasn't overly reserved did well.
Did buy some generic Saints today for what seems like a good price along with a couple Doilies. Wasn't expecting to find PCGS 64 Saints for $1200 on the Bourse!
View looking back at the convention center from the bridge near the Marriott hotel - not a bad view.

If anything interesting happens tomorrow, will do a final brief update.
Alright - here are the NEWPS. Bought 3 Doilies along with some bullion (common Saints). The 1864 no-L Bronze IHC is from John Dannreuther, the other 2 from CRO. The Luncheon slabs are also shown. Almost pulled the trigger on a 6 figure coin but promised the wife I wouldn't buy something expensive at this show - maybe LB??

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Then ask the PCGS staff (you probably will need Lakesamman's on site permission) to show you the reverse of this slab.
It is a hybrid sample slab in which it has elements of the OGH slab and elements of the post OGH slab!!!
Way too cool!!!
Does the cert number (or anything on the slab) tell you which number out of 1,250 it is?
But, an interesting factoid for you: The cert # for the 2015 & 2015-D samples are of course different but when you go check the certs for them on the PCGS website, they BOTH resolve to showing the coin as a 2015-D on the PCGS cert look-up...and they both show a generic 2015-D TrueView of an example with a bad obv hit.

The Perfection 2 Collection of IHC proofs has many Gems up for the LB offering.
And I love IHC proofs.

Interesting, but I can't get the cert numbers I've seen to pull up anything in the PCGS database. Not even that they are in the system.

It was a pleasure to view your set and receive a 5th generation sample in the container shown from Cosetta. I spent a good 15 minutes viewing it. That was a heck of a challenge to put together and is impressive! Well done! Now back to the bourse........
Best, SH
How could you have missed that mercury dime??????
spacehayduke - glad you enjoyed it.

Mine is a 1983-D, also, and after I got it, I was wondering why they chose 1983. Looks like it would grade MS66. Score!

It was more like a tidal wave!!
Doing four different coins in the luncheon slab was unfair to the luncheon participants. Some got nickels others got dimes, quarters and/or half dollars!! I firmly believe all 230 coins should have been the same denomination, date and mm so everyone walks away equally and equally satisfied.
Did you look at the blue OGH typeface 1921 Morgan silver dollar sample with the post OGH silver reverse in the display? I believe it may be quite scarce as this is the only one I have ever seen. They usually have the OGH gold reverse.
And you're correct - it was more like a tidal wave to me and others.
Next luncheon, I'm stuffing my pockets with $10's and $20's, just in case.
The handwriting on the PCGS 8.2 label looks vaguely familiar
So does the slab, Wingsrule. I haven't seen it since late 2004 as I recall.

I think the differences between the 3 were lost on most people, but the people who collect Doilies understand.
Do you have a close up pictures of the three doilys in the display? This would be helpful to those who have no idea of what you are talking about.
The photographs of the displays are hard to see.
Was there a brochure of all of the sample slabs?
No, there wasn't a brochure showing all the samples.
