I like the steamboat reverse on the gold but the portrait on the obverse makes him look angry, certainly not what his mother would have picked for him out of the family album

The silver coin depictions, both obverse and reverse are excellent in my opinion.

Thanks for posting! I'm in for a complete set. What's the consensus among collectors?

I think the gold has more of a "coin-like" in design in that it has few, simple devices that could conceivably be on a circulating coin.

The silver is busier and more like a medal. It could be a cleaner design without the raft on the obverse, without the frog on the reverse, and perhaps moving the horizon up on the coin a bit on the reverse.

A little bit too cartoonish for me. I'll probably pass on these, or buy in the aftermarket when they come down in price.

The $1 does not impress me but I really like the steamboat on the $5.

I like them both.. He was known as a bit of a curmudgeon...albeit with a sense of humor,

so the expression is fit.... Cheers, RickO

These Coins will be a fitting companion to the Eunice Shriver Coins in your collection of " most attractive US Mint designs".

Never did get a Shriver coin yet. Guess I won't be needing any Twain coins either.

What's the mintage? Assuming a high mintage, flip.

CW article here - up to 100,000 gold and 350,000 silver.

Both are going to happen as usual.

Just more soon-to-be-forgotten ultra-modern commemorate issues. Long term hold ... if you have worry about long term hold it means you shouldn't even be considering purchase of the issue.

I'm looking forward to this one. Certainly worthy of a commemorative, and a nice design to boot. Also agree it won't be a way to get rich quick!

Looks like Franklin Mint work. What happened to the US Mint Artists? The Simpson's TV show must have stole the best of the staff.

I like the gold obverse and the silver reverse the best.

The reverse of the $5 is a pleasing design.

As far as the rest...... not a real fan. The dollar coin is really busy, and neither likeness makes me think of Twain.

Looks like Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpson's:
