Seems harsh based on the images- These are obviously large images of small coins which tend to magnify any imperfections. Looks as if there is a very high expectation with Irish Republic coinage.

As for the 1780 6MG, I looked at the fields and they look good from the images- I did not think an MS grade was unreasonable. The high points may have some cabinet friction, but nothing that looked serious to me that would prevent an ms grade.

I thought some of those grades should have been higher too!

For what it's worth I agreed with most of the grades.

I thought the 3 pence could have gone 65, 64+ is good enough.

The two 6 pence I agree with and bought them as 64's. The forum photos quality sucks. With the image as shot there are a few more surface marks.

Agree with the shilling as a 64 and bought it as such.

Think the 4mg should be 58, really this the 6mg is MS.

I have a few more to submit next time and will post them here.

No sense in resubmitting though. Maybe the 6mg at some point when I finish my Wildmen denomination set.

    Thanks for playing.

it appears, with all due respect for our host, that the nicely toned coins have perhaps been "penalized" by the graders.??

Nice irish coins, I don;t think we see enough of those around here! I've seen a lot of 6p + Shillings with very attractive toning. I tried to purchase some beauty 6p/Shillings from Preussen, but they were on eBay and went for more than I was willing to pay.
