1972 Double Die Cent DDO-8 FS-108

I found this in my change. Looks like a double die to me, but I don't know errors. Did some searching, and I think it's the FS-108. Can any of you experts confirm for me?

Thanks,
Bob

...did you check it out at coppercoins.com? look at all the markers.

Cool find, congrats! Not my area of specialty but I think it is #3 or #8.

You would have to closely examine those. The new CPG has them in there.

This is most certainly a doubled die. Die 3 and 8 are hard to distinguish from pics. You'll have to check out coppercoins.com or John Wexler's website to get it attributed. The CPG has had them in there for years, but will not show die markers.

    Nice find!

Linky to Wexler's Website for the 1972 DDOs with pretty pictures.

CopperCoins.com only had one small image for each DDO as far as I could tell and was not very helpful.

Looks to me like the I and N doubling don't go all the way to the top of the letter. In the CP's guide, Die 3 doubling goes to the top of I and N. IMO, that makes this the Die 8 example.

Super find..... I have been looking for one of those for years in change... no luck. However,

you have re-energized me.... onward with the search. image Cheers, RickO
  • Thanks for the help every one. I checked out the sites mentioned and see a few of the markers for the FS-108, but what a pain to photograph without the right equipment. Managed to get a shot of the die scratch running through the 2nd T in TRUST.

And a better pic of the whole coin...
