2013 Spectra Football Hall of Fame 50th Anniversary Autograph (150 card set) 63 cards released to da

Well, I have decided to take this monster set on. So I am going to post my progress as I go. The story on this set was Panini was going to release 150 different cards through out their 2013 and 2014 products. Each card will be factory #'d out of 50. Well, so far they have released 64 of the 150 cards in 2013-2015 products. So it may tak seven or eight years for all the cards to be released. The reason for building the set is they are my favorite design, all on card autographs and it will be a lesson in patience(something I lack).
Well here is what we have so far.

These cards are inserted in National Treasures, Contenders, Playbook and Spectra and all numbered to 50. Our thought is to be more aggressive with the cards that came from Playbook and Spectra. They're less desirable products so in theory will have more unopened product and some cards won't be pulled anytime soon.
My wife and I are guessing the average cost per card will be $75. That is 150 cards X $75=$11,250. I believe it will take six years to release all 150 cards. So my goal is to catch up and finish in three full years. Well, I have an auto of each of the top ten players in the set in my personal collection. So the plan is to sell those and replace with their counterpart from this set. I believe that will cover the top $2,000 of the set. In addition, that will help with the average. There are 156 weeks so the plan is to pick up one new card per week on average. I will give myself six individual weeks to skip if the prices are high, no real auctions running that week. So my guess is on average I need to come up with $65 or so per week. I am always flipping cards for fun/extra money so I will just have to do a little more of that.
The key is to buy them at auction compared to BIN/BO. If you look at past auctions you can save 20-50% if you are willing to gamble on losing a card at auction. Any advice will be appreciated for someone who took on a large modern set.
very nice. I looked to see if their was a basketball equivalent and there seems to be. It is not as nice (patch + auto). The patch (to me at least) takes away from the look of the card.
Can you tell me what the name of the basketball version is and what products it is found in? Thanks!
Hope that helps.

collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
those cards looks great
i think they're awesome looking cards so did a quick search....quick (mind you)so i could be way off.....looks like a lot in the $50-60 like u mentioned, some over 100. But what stood out, so Ill mention it, is that it looks like one guy is listing the same RAW cards for $500 and make an offer.....those guys are looking for a fish to come along and offer 2 or $300 thinking they're getting a great deal....i looked up one of his $500 cards and vs an exact same RAW example was going for 120, 100 and 140....geeze...those guys give the hobby a bad name....but before the doubters start...yes, they are his cards to do what he wants.....and actually i get BINs at 2X market...but 4-5X is too much..IMO.
....just from some of my experiences...take it or throw it away.....but good luck....Awesome set....Patience pays off..but one a week def sounds doable and fun
I did trade for two this weekend. Here is the first one.
Luckily my father bought me the Emmitt as my Christmas gift so I don't have to chase that one down. Another seller has the Barry but the autograph looks off so I passed on it as well.
I have tried to pick up the less expensive ones. My thought is a Rice, Sander or Elway will pop up at some point. A Bob Lilly may be tougher to track down. If you can buy them for the $30 range shipped.
Speaking of Lilly I got him just now and traded at my LCS for Rod Woodson.
I will get a better scan of his up soon.
these are so cool..i would have paid for the martin...but i don't see anything near your 16 bucks...wow, great find.
Hows your woodson look? i may try to pick one up...tho prob won't find it as cheap as you've been getting them. Your emmitt looks really cool..but I'm not gonna pay what i see them asking...congrats on it as a gift..
...great thread
u told us how ur plan on getting them...so how are u going to display them eventually, which ones graded, or a mixture graded? i wonder how they'll present the best.
i don't have any yet but is the picture raised? like 3d? because some of the scans look different.....surface issues?sensitivity?...oh, are there plans for panini to increase the number from150 or is it set complete? thanks....and great looking cards....as u can tell, u got my interest with these and other than MJ (and heritage last year for fun) i haven't bought any modern since the 80s
My plan is to buy the wall cases that hold graded and ungraded cards. That way the few gem mint I have I can put on the top row.
At the moment only 63 of the 150 have been released. Panini claims 64 but nobody has ever seen the Bob Griese. I would imagine the set will be complete but they could always keep going. In my opinion, they won't get all 150 to sign so they will replace them with newly inducted members. That's just a guess. Yes, they seem to be sensitive on the surface but corners and edges are normally perfect.
