12 Days of Christmas Carnage III (The Aftermath...)

It's that time a year again to break out my stash and pick out 12 days worth of ripping material. This year I am returning to my tradition of ripping a '58 FB Cello! However, since I have more than one to choose from I'm going to let you guys pick the one I'll open on Christmas Day.

While I'm choosing the packs for the rest of the 11 days, here is a list of the four that I have and who is on top/bottom...

1 - PSA 7 - Jon Arnett/49ers Team
2 - PSA 7 - Walt Yowarsky/Bears Team (Winner)
3 - PAS 6 - Ray Mathews/Gino Marchetti
4 - PSA 5 - Chet Hanulak/ R.C. Owens

The pack with the most votes by Sunday evening will get added to the 12 day!

I'll post the full schedule (with pics) of what is going to get ripped Monday evening.

The official kick-off of the carnage will start a week later on the 14th.

As of now, I know this year will equal or most likely beat last years in the worth total and will include at least a wax run from '75 to '90!

Here they all are....

Dec 14th: 2 - '87 Wax (RC - Kelly), '88 Wax, '89 Wax, '90 Wax
Dec 15th: '82 Wax, 3 - '83 Wax, 3 - '85 Wax (RC - Moon, 2 - Marino)
Dec 16th: 2 - '86 Wax (Elway, RC - Smith)
Dec 17th: 5 - '84 Wax (2 - RC Elway, 2 RC Green)
Dec 18th: 4 - '80 Wax, 2 - '81 Wax
Dec 19th: 1 - '79 Wax Tray (RC Newsome)
Dec 20th: '77 Wax (Randy White), 2 - '78 Wax (Simpson)
Dec 21st: '76 Wax
Dec 22nd: '75 Wax
Dec 23rd: '70 Wax (Bell, Taylor)
Dec 24th: '69 Wax
Dec 25th: '58 Cello (Joe Perry)

Biggest pulls shown in ()s.

36 Packs valued around $2000!

Nice Scott. I dig your annual rip. I'm prepping my annual birthday rip right now too.

I'm gonna lob my vote for the Marcherti pack.

    Looking forward to the start.

    Good Luck!

Sounds like fun. Is there one that would lean toward more star material according to sequencing? If not then you can have my vote. You're judgement worth more than mine. Im just happy to watch. (oh, maybe vote for the one with the best corners) of the top 1-3.

oh for paragraphs, once you edit you have to hit the "hr" button on the edit page to get paragraphs now. But now you get the lines like you see in mine.

I haven't noticed any issues when using the "edit" button. I can edit title or paragraphs the way I normally do.

ETA: I would choose the cello with best centered card on top..good luck!

    So it begins...

Day 1 is is usually pretty uneventful, and this year is no exception! A couple of stars were seen including a rookie Kelly although it's slightly off center.

All these packs came from Wax boxes I busted earlier this year looking for submit-able Browns cards. Still need a few '87 and '89s.

Here are the best for these 5 packs...

An entertaining thread! Thanks for doing it. It's up to you, obviously since it's your thread, but the '58 cello opening would be an event worth videotaping and putting up on YouTube. At the very least, it would be fun to see that pack posted card by card to add some drama. Just some suggestions. Thanks again!

First up tonight is my last pack of '82 Wax from my stash obtained from BBCE just over a year ago.

No star power, lower left corner dings of most cards. Only 3 decently centered cards...

Second up, 3 packs of '83 Wax from a little store in Galena, IL.

A little bit of star power nothing great. A hand full of centered cards including one of the wax on the back...

Lastly, 3 packs of '85 Wax from BBCE...

Lots of star power in these including a Moon and 2 - 2nd year Marinos! However, the Moon was off center, one nicely centered Marino had gum damage and the other was extremely off center. image

Lots of nicely centered commons but most had corner issues. The McNeil and Dickey are the best of the bunch corner wise.

  • Options
Personally I think that Moon is awesome!

Up tonight are 2 packs of '86 Wax

A couple stars here, a decent Elway but a Bruce Smith with mechanical damage. Only a few nice commons.

One pack had stuck gum and both packs had the 1000 yard club card stuck to the adjacent card (See Otis for the worst one!).

After watching cool threads like these you can appreciate the prices some high grade cards get. Good star power but getting 9's or 10's is always a challenge.

That Mike Richardson from pack #2 is interesting. I've never seen such a well centered card have printing from the sheet on it.

Some major star power in this one, Elway has made an appearance! Also a RC Darrell Green. Both have centering issues though.

    Pack #5 of '84 Wax

Deja vu, Elway strikes again! Along with Green and a few others in that sequence. It's obvious all these pack came form the same box.

This pack also had a missing card.

Here is a better scan of the big hits...
