- Marcus Tullius Cicero, 106-43 BC
Giving proper credit: found this at http://www.angeldees.com and thought is was cool...
SD, that Peace dollar looks AT to me.
Here's a Franklin with Whitman's "text" toning on the obverse (like Bryce's), and a linear pattern on the reverse that no one is really sure how it develops, as the coin was NOT in contact with paper/cardboard with that pattern.

I think a good name for this one would be "Warping of The Space Time Continuum".......
Some Lovely looking coins everyone!

I have seen that multiple times and I think that the answer is that it was coined from a die that just had a cleaning wipe. Whatever was on the cloth was left on the surface of the die and caused the coin to tone that way. No need for a bag or paper.

The second 1881 Morgan, and the 1875 Trade Dollar.
Stunning.
Would love to see in what we call 'Real Life.'

I am seeing green spots before my eyes.
Crazy colors and I need to reimage as it might be a doubled die.

Some interesting toners, love that hunk of gold Lakesammman and that 81S with the crazy warp speed toning is awesome. The one I've posted no so awesome
Awesome. For sale?
Wow, that is a spectacularly toned Peace!
Stumbled across it in the Pinnacle archives last night and it made my eyes shoot out on springs.
Mind you, the toning is a little weird, but... wow. What a coin.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
ElmerFusterpuck's S mint mark Morgan looks like "Metamorphosis"
grip's 1881 Morgan looks like "Rebirth of the Phoenix".
grip's 1887 Morgan look like "Kaleidoscope".

This one is easy.
"This means something, this is important"....(quote from Close Encounters of the Third Kind)
"Devils Tower"
Thanks for the offer, but no chance (as you probably guessed). I think we all probably feel real comfortable saying a toning pattern like this on a Peace dollar is a rather rare bird.
Funny story now that I think about it - the seller actually came barking on my door to buy this one for a really good/ridiculous price.
