1937 buffalo nickels

Much like the 1936s I recently posted, I picked up this pair with the thought that it didn't make sense to slab my prior 37-D & S. I did ultimately end up submitting my 37-D, as I liked it that much. Purchased in an old fatty NCG65 holder, I see it as a 66. In the interim I was able to pick up the one imaged below. Just really pretty color on the obverse in hand, I took a gamble with crappy seller images and am glad I did. My old 37-S is the S/S/S variety, which our hosts don't recognize, so off to ANACS and consignment it went. The replacement pictured below 37-S has that wonderful super thick skin you find on a lot of the later date buffalos, but what really got me was the rich gold toning in the fields and how that contrasted rather spectacularly with the brilliant devises.
