What is it about President Kennedy Coins?

Looking at the latest eBay sold by auction format, a PCGS 69 Set with OGP went for $68.00 so that's got to be a big loss.
Today a 2015 Kennedy C&C set went for issue price of $57.95 (1 bid) and a set on 11/16 sold for $50.00.
These aren't as bad as the Gold Kennedy, but unless you get perfect 70's, the C&C sets were another dog.
I think there are a lot of Kennedy Half dollar collectors, but nobody seems interested in them outside the normal half dollars.
What is your take on these C&C sets? Did anyone make any money flipping them?

Too many C&C 2015 sets .. too greedy by some big name dealers on the Gold Kennedy. ....some passed instead of getting chumped by dealers who bused in bodies to the ANA Show to corner a hoped for big killing on the Gold Kennedys.. to this day... friends will not buy Gold Kennedys ..
Booorrrring!
(No offense to President Kennedy intended. I just have never found the Kennedy halves or any of the modern issues mentioned the least bit interesting, personally.)
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Right up to the point where the whiners started controlling the US Mint.
Gotta make them whiners happy.
Had the US Mint kept the mintage at 25,000 the C&C might have fared better but at 50,000 it took forever to sell out.
My take on the whiners is that they are simply whining because they could buy 2 and sell 1 for $150 or $200.
As for the recent Kennedy Collectibles? I think your perhaps reading w-a-a-a-y too much into the popularity of stuff related to Kennedy as evidenced by the fact that the latest collectibles have simply NOT been that popular.
As for the C&C Sets themselves, the Reverse Proof effect really sucks on the obverses but looks pretty cool on the Reverses. I'm of the opinion that the US Mint really screwed the pooch by doing Reverse Proof and think the coins would have looked much nicer as Enhanced Uncirculated.
The name is LEE!
AH's when I see them...Cheers, RickO
I like coins that are older and have stories and character and preferably some patina signifying their age
Plus if you want it that bad, be patient and in a year or two I'm sure you will see them at pawn shops for spot + $20
Edit to add those gold Kennedy were not a loser for those that got the set early and took the stupid money.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Truth, no 3/4 oz Kennedy here, those who bussed in, Who knows. Thing is, I don't care.
So they pushed mintage limits up to the point of ridiculousness. (Is ridiculousness really a word?
Surplus of supply is going to kill demand, and thus prices.
I mean, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, should it?
I love the "Kennedy" halves! The new Kennedy Gold/Chronicles no. Too much hype. I love the chase and hunt of the Accented Hair, as well as, so many other Kenn.'s. The variety/error cherry picking is so much fun. Searching for the DD's, Cameo's, the no initials, the beautiful SMS's too! Esp. in high grade, along with the rare Cameo's in the SMS ones. Even the Matte finish coin for 1998. Did I tell you I love the Kennedy coins? -joey
Just got in the 1972-D no FG today last of the majors I needed for the set.
Your not along out-there.
I don't think the problem is the coin(s) or anything related to President Kennedy, I believe it is more directly related to the "Hype" and how the releases are marketed. if you remember the Chicago ANA fiasco and the trouble at the sales elsewhere coupled with the mania over the C&C Sets(really overboard at this very site) you might understand what I'm talking about.
things were so bad that not many kept what they got, they flipped them and walked away.
That's probably due to the 50,000 limit
As far as Kennedy not being a remembered President, I think only he, Johnson, Nixon and Reagan accomplished anything useful.
Kennedy averted WWIII with the Russians over Cuba (which would have ended this country)
Johnson did Civil Rights reform.
Nixon opened up relations with China and private owership of gold
Reagan bankrupted the USSR and made America proud again.
I can't think of anything major any others did.
Of course that doesn't translate to coin sales for Prez $1's.
