Kitco tracking cookies.

cladkingcladking Posts: 28,330 ✭✭✭✭✭
I think I just got about 25 tracking cookies at their site. It's been taking about forever to load so I looked at and deleted their cookies.

If anyone is interested here's another site;

http://silverprice.org/

I liked the layout on Kitco's site with gold, currency and stock market all in one place so I'll keep looking.

It's the end of an era since I used the page for over ten years. It's not so much of a loss really and it's not like they paved paradise in favor of a parking lot. image

    Sounds like you need one of those cookie destroyers.

    With FireFox there is an add-on/extension you can get called self-destructing cookies that kills them when you close the window. Also has the option to keep them if you want. I'm sure there are others as well.

    That's fine clearing them once in awhile but I've experienced it locking up the computer to the point of having to do a hard shut down many times since they've added on the crap onto the price page.

    There are cookie blockers too if you feel that they are causing issues with your computer.

    KITCO is out. It is unusable on this computer. I just went in for the first time in days and it bogged down the comnputer so badly I nearly needed to shut it down.

    I deleted 49 cookies and it was still downloading them when I tried to X out. I will not be trying them again for years at least.

    Here are two that work b7ut they both suck. The second one has excellent articles though;

    I always used the livegold toolbar in firefox but after version 25 it stopped working. However I've ditched firefox for palemoon and now i can use the toolbar again.

    As far as cookies , I use several extensions , noscript and betterprivacy , privacy badger is pretty good at blocking trackers .

    You don't say anything about your computer/browser, etc. I can load Kitco with no issues. You might try to not accept cookies and see what that does.

    There was a way to get livegold toolbar to work in newer versions of FF.

    The problem with the new firefox is that it sucks now , mozilla has lost its mind and are determined to destroy it . If you are committed to it though you should get this

    a bit busy for my tastes

    Chrome works better on kitco than IE for me on desktop loading. Safari/ipad never has issues.

    And I have to have/use IE for work, otherwise I'd never touch it.

    IE works better for some things than it does for others. With speedtest.net, it's usually considerably slower that Chrome or FF. I don't have any AOL stuff on my computer, but since I still maintain an AOL email I use the aol.com site often. Videos related to their news stories rarely if ever play using Chrome or FF, but do play with IE.

    Last couple months Chrome has a lot of not responding issues. I try to login into AOL email and it hangs up. If I close the browser and re-open it, it usually says that Chrome didn't shut down correctly. Crikey, how can you close a window wrong?

    Wow!!!

    The SilverSeek site seems tobe reporting three distinctly different prices for silver so against my better judgement I tried Kitco; looks like 68 cookies. There was some difficulty deleting them all. At least I didn't need epicac this time.
