Do you like persistent numismatic mysteries?

There are some ongoing mysteries like whether 1964 Peace dollars exist, where Haseltine set of 1801-1804 dollars came from, what happened to the original gold Libertas Americana medals, etc.


Do you like mysteries that persist for decades or centuries? Or do you wish they could be solved already?

Sure. Mysteries are a lot of fun, but I do prefer that a few of 'em get solved now and then, to keep interest alive in the unsolved ones.

Sure although most 'mysteries' are a cover up for something shady.

I want them all solved in my lifetime. Hopefully that will give investigators about 30 years.

The widow of a Denver bartender has two 1964 Peace Dollars. I heard it from a forklift operator in Raton, New Mexico. He told me that his uncle was a Navajo silversmith in Kayenta, Arizona and sometime in the early '70's his uncle made both the dollars into belt buckles. Rodeo- style.

Another big mystery, which was solved a few years ago, was the 'Missing 1913 V-Nickel'. That was exciting and even more exciting when the mystery was solved.

I was on a path years ago to explore the mystery of the missing 1895 Morgan dollar business strike.



I actually had in my possession briefly a piece that appeared to be a genuine circulated business strike, which Larry Shepherd, David Lange and Mike Faraone had examined.



Even had a conversation with John Ford about the subject.
