Any update on the "Bay Area" Counterfeit 1955 DDO Lincoln?

Ron Guth mentions the following on Coin Facts:
Is there any more information on these? Also, why are these called "Bay Area" counterfeits?
A new "Bay Area" counterfeit mimics the die polishing lines found on a genuine 1955 Doubled Die, but the surfaces and the edge display mico-porosity which is NOT characteristic of a genuine example.
