Thanks John for replying, but it would be helpful if you would provide your list of what cannot be changed due to the software and what is being reworked to repair user's list of issues.

So, back to the spell check issue. I noticed something. In the QUICK REPLY boxes, these are known in the web programming world as TEXTAREA boxes. Google Chrome will spell check in these and in TEXT BOXES (like used for the subject line of a new thread)....BUT GOOGLE CHROME is unable to check spelling in the full reply area that uses a WYSIWYG type of interface. Same with the PM replies as it uses the same WYSIWYG interface. I could not see a way to toggle to a plain text reply so that the browser could spell check it.

So, the plot thickens. It was not as simple as I once thought. A solution is still required for the site.

Click on PROFILE, change the time zone to something else, save it, change the time zone to what it is supposed to be for you and then save it. Just a glitch and this fixes it.

Well it seems that someone is listening and taking care of the issues because now the PM max went to 125,000 instead of 50,000. I'm sure they will work out all the other little bugs over time.

Like anything else it will take a bit of time to get used to, but it seems that at least they did their best to maintain much of the previous info.

In your Profile click the Personal Options tab. It's a selection there

I think it is PROFILE, PERSONAL OPTIONS, SUBSCRIPTION DELIVERY...I could be wrong. Try that though.

That is what I have finally tried, but since there is a sub-section for "subscriptions" that contains the names of boards it is not very intuitive.

How photos are displayed is critical to repair. Oblong just doesn't cut it.

With this new software it appears screen size determines if photos are displayed oblong or not.

Not sure it matters. I changed mine right after the board came back up. I still received the PM on the forum but also received the email with it.

I only have the "subscription" for PMs set to Private Message and it is NOT email.

The main thing that continues to bother me is the PM system. It's cluttered and non-intuitive. That said, I believe the rest of the new setup is a step forward...more secure, and is much appreciated.

So, the plot thickens. It was not as simple as I once thought. A solution is still required for the site.

Back to the spell check issue again...and other things!

I went into my settings and changed to HTML from WYSIWYG and I have multiple pleasant surprises!!!

    1. Google Chrome Spell Check now works everywhere on the site!

    2. I was getting 113 errors when sending PMs with links. With the HTML

setting for the site, that is now resolved as well. No more 113 errors!

    3. I did not like the giant double spacing after pressing the ENTER key.

With the HTML setting, that mess is now gone as well.

    4. The emotions box had to be resized, scrolled through up and down

and left to right to find stuff. Now it is back to the quick drop down old

way...hit the drop down, press the first letter on the key board for what

you want (such as F for funny...pressing it multiple times will go through

all of the emotions that start with F and then just hit enter for the one

you want). So quick and easy.

    5. The emotions box was broken for anyone using WYSIWYG on an

iPhone or iPad and you only got the 4 options and had no way to deal

with that box. So now it is back to the drop down that iPhone and iPad

    work just fine with.

This was an excellent fix back to the way things were! ONE SETTING

CHANGE FIXED 5 PROBLEMS FOR ME! Wooohoooooo!

It happens to me as well, but not from everyone. I have received an email/PM from SeattleSlammer but not from another person (of an item I bought from him on the BST). I received another email/PM from someone about a recent thread but only a PM from someone else on that same thread that I PM'ed them about.

So, I wish I could STOP receiving email/PMs and just receive PMs.

No offense to any, but there is almost nobody that I want an email/PM from...a PM suffices. image
