stone193..thats really cool. I didn't know about that. Now that you've peaked my interest I know what Im going to be preoccupied with. I find things like this fascinating to learn about. Please forward any additional info that you think I may like. Cool. Thanks.
We appreciate your feedback and the fact that you have contained it to one thread – makes it much easier to keep track of the issues everyone’s experiencing.
Just briefly, I want to start by explaining that we did not decide to change the forum for the “sake of making a change” and it certainly wasn’t a “senseless” move on our part. The old forum was so out of date, that we could not make many necessary updates behind the scenes. Although it doesn’t seem so now, in the long run, this change will be for the greater good. Trust us – we don’t like to make a major change unless it’s absolutely necessary. There is too much time and effort that must go into a data transfer this large for it to be “senseless.”
This said, like everyone here, I had to figure out how to use this new forum myself and I can understand how some things can be frustrating. But we just ask that you hang in there as we get issues worked out and questions answered (slowly but surely). Please just know that we (Collectors Universe) did not design the layout or add/remove functions – so we have to work with the programmers to try and resolve issues (if we can).
To start, I’ll try to address some of the issues I’ve read in this thread:
Spell Check: Our team was looking into getting this feature turned on and it appears to be working on my end thus far. Just tested a post with misspellings.
Preview: Unfortunately, this was not available at all in the new software (not sure why), but the good thing is that users now have the ability to both “Edit” and “Delete” their messages in case a change needs to be made after posting. Those two functions should be on the bottom right of your posted message. (Note: I’m composing messages within my email first to help with the preview issue – again, not ideal, but just a helpful tip.)
Limit on PMs: You all noticed this was changed from 10K to 50K, but our group has actually increased to 125K now.
Time Stamp: Our team was looking to fix this universally for everyone, but you can also fix it yourself via your “Profile” page. (Note: We tried to make sure everything on your accounts was transferred over seamlessly, but there are always small things such as this that can be missed in a huge data transfer. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.)
Avatars: All avatars attached to an existing account should have been transferred over. If yours did not come over for some odd reason, you can update under your “Profile” page. Note: This software does not store everyone’s previously used avatars as was done before, so make sure you store your avatar if you wish to use again. And until further notice, the avatar upload function will be left on, so you can switch your avatar if you so choose.
User Titles: Same with your title. If it’s missing entirely, just report to the Moderator and it can be fixed. (If this can wait a few weeks, we would appreciate your patience as we have to prioritize the larger issues at this time.)
Accessing other forums: Links to all the other forums should be available on the left margin after you log in (so you don’t have to hit the CU logo at the top each time). If this is not there on your computer, it is currently being hidden. To fix this, you need to hit the arrow located right above the button that says “Delete Selected Topics” (towards the top left corner). This will extend the margin and you’ll see all the forum links while in a specific forum/thread.
Blue Arrows (meant to go to the last page of a thread): I’ve tested a few and they all seem to be working properly.
Font Size: On the top right corner, there is a little “a-” and a “A+” button. If you hit the “a-“ it will shrink the size of the font and if you hit the “A+” it will enlarge.
Emoticons: Within the “Reply” window (i.e., where you compose your message), there should be a drop down menu at the top that allows you to select an emoticon. When you highlight it, it should automatically appear in your text box. I have experienced some issues with this feature myself, but it is working right now. If for some reason you experience issues, you can also go to the “Symbols” link on the left of that Reply window and this will give you a list of codes for emoticons and other functions.
Replying to Posts: Note that when you reply using the "Quick Reply" at the bottom of a thread, this does not give you access to all posting functions. In order to add links, images and/or emoticons, hit the "Reply” button found at the bottom right of any message in order to open the formal reply window with all the options.
Viewing PMs: To view all your PMs, go towards the top left margin and there will be a line that says “Private Messages.” When you hover over it, you’ll notice the hand cursor will appear (meaning you can click on it). This will take you to the list of your PMs.
Reading PMs: You have to click on the name of the sender. Once that message opens up, you can go back to your PM list by clicking on the white “Private Messages” link at the top.
PMs being sent as emails:Some people have reported getting their PMs in the form of emails. We are looking into this.
Subscriptions: Unfortunately, this was not something we were able to transfer over 100%, so if you were subscribed to any threads, you will have to re-subscribe.
a.) You can either receive notifications about subscriptions via email or PM. You control this option under your “Profile – Personal Options” page.
b.) If you are getting emails about threads you have not subscribed to, you can unsubscribe yourself by going to the “Dashboard” page found on the top right corner. When that page opens up, it will have a list of your subscriptions and you can select and “unsubscribe” there.
Search Function: During testing, I discovered that you have to be very precise. If you attempt to search a word or phrase with all categories selected, it will draw up zero results. But if you select a specific category, it will narrow the search and produce the thread(s) you may be looking for. So instead of searching for a player’s name in every forum, you narrow it to the Sports forum, etc. (This is not ideal and we have brought it to the programmers. Hopefully a fix will arrive in the near future.)
Posting Links: You should be able to use the "link" options in the menu bar at the top of the reply window. If this doesn’t work for some reason, you can also use the code listed under the “symbols" list.
Posting Images: Same as above. You should be able to upload via the image menu option and/or via the code found in the "symbols" link. (I believe this is the same as before – you must use a URL.) Note: We did receive reports about some images coming out elongated on some postings. Our team was working on a fix for this.
Adding Images to Signatures: There is a "symbols" link at the bottom of the signature box that gives you a code for posting images in your signature. You can only post images via a URL link.
Accessing PSA or PCGS main sites: There are "Quick Links" to all our sites at the top right corner of the forum page.
Missing Paragraph Spaces in Posts: I’ve been tackling this very issue for the last two days trying to post this very long message! I found a loophole by using the bullet point code found in the “symbols” list, but this is very tedious. If anyone has a tip on how to do this, I welcome the input because I haven’t been able to figure it out.
ERROR Code 113 - Cannot Post/Reply: Some people have reported that they are getting an error when they attempt to post or reply. The error says "ERROR: One of the values in the url has not passed validation. Error Code: 113." Another member was able to figure out that it was the website URL listed in his "Profile" page. He cleared it out and it resolved the issue. He also re-did his signature, so that may help as well.
I know this is a lot of info, some of which was already resolved amongst yourselves, but I figured I’d keep all the responses on one page. I’ll keep updating this posting as I receive updates on pending issues.
Again, we appreciate your patience as we work out the issues. And although we do not mind the "Report to moderator" emails, we do prefer that all issues be posted on this thread so we can respond here where everyone can benefit from the answers.
Thanks,
Forum Admin

I used the bullet tag as a workaround in my post to get it to break into paragraphs, which it did....except that it's not actually showing the bullets. :-)
One thing I would like to know if it can be added...
We have an "image" and "link" capability - would like to know if we can have a "video" button to have a youtube video "Direct" rather than posting it as a link - I believe it'll be more effective for viewers to be in this fashion.
So, when we post a youtube, we'll see something like this:
I am not getting email alerts for any of my subscriptions that pre-date the upgrade. I am also unable to, as a solution, unsubscribe and resubscribe from them. I sent an email to the webmaster asking for assistance with this. If somebody could get back to me, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Another suggestion: When the menu on the left is hidden, there is no way to tell if I have new PMs. I find out that I have new PMs by receiving an email exposing the direct email address of everyone who sends me a message and my direct email address to whomever I send a PM to.
1. Move PMs to somewhere besides the navigation menu (plenty of empty space between the Collectors Universe/change font size bar and the forum being navigated) or change the color of the button to unhide the menu when there are unread PMs.
2. Quit sending email notifications by default for PMs, make this opt-in only.
3. Use noreply@collectors.com or similar to originate the email notifications, not the users direct email address.
Edit: Manual formatting fix, this is obviously the first priority on items to be addressed. Also, I'm not seeing any 'Edited:

Matt, so you see the same thing I do? And what if I want to steal your Emmitt icon, how can I do it?????
Lol! I do see the same thing. Not sure how you can steal my Emmitt because he's not in the list haha.
That brings up a good question. When we upload a new image, I wonder if it adds to the current icons? I'm guessing no but I'm afraid to try it lol!

Where are the icons now? When I go into Profile and View All, I only see a couple pages of cartoon faces.
They seem to be gone for now Mark.
Good news?
You can pick you own any time you want and post it.
My new icon was just loaded - I picked a new one and added it.
The program will tell you to keep is no bigger than 120.

I just checked the list - i.e. "view all" - and there's no new ones.
Keep in mind, I just added a new "Stone" icon.
I'm saving Matt's here - just in case he decides to change it.
Did I do something wrong? I made a long post (link above) with several paragraphs and it ran everything together as one block of text.
Same problem with this reply.

I am not sure if this is a built-in feature with this software, but I will certainly check with out IT group and get back to you guys.

Have these been working for people?
Any tips?
EDIT: Obviously not working yet....
1.) Place a link in my signature
2.) Place a photo image in my signature
For some reason the coding isn't working now
Testing paragraph breaks.
Have these been working for people?
Any tips?
To get the paragraph breaks add a break to the end of each paragrah.
A break can be added by typing "br" surrounded by a less than sign (<) and a greater than sign (>).
Simply put, its HTML for adding a break to a web page.

Got another request.
Is there any way we can change the "IMAGE" button to be able to pull a scan "directly" from our computer and have it hosted directly by the CU web?
Here's what it would look like:
In this case - if I change the radio button to "My Computer" - I'll be prompted to "browse" and select the scan/photo I wish to post here.
Just a thought.

Yes! I feel the same way about this!

We probably have enough IT/web experience among the users here to Project Manage, design/script/code, and have these fixes rolled out in a week
few requests:
1. feature to automatically stop correcting my "i" to "I". or better yet, just let me take the auto-correct feature off?
2. like to see a "views" column next to the "replies" one. be nice to see how many times each thread was actually viewed, not just the reply count.
3. get the time/date stamp fixed already.
