PWCC is auctioning a PSA 8 1952 Topps Mantle in its next auction

I just got an email from PWCC announcing this will be in its upcoming auction. It looks to be the highest dollar card ever auctioned on eBay. Viewing the picture in the email on my phone it looks pretty sharp. A lot of eyeballs will be on this card for sure. I wonder if it becomes the most watched card ever on eBay. Pretty good payday coming for Brent. Good for him!

I don't think there's much chance of that, is there? A Honus Wagner sold for $1.27M on ebay. A PSA 8 Mantle recently sold for $400K.

I may have misread the email. Maybe it's the highest dollar card he has sold.

Jeremy-Lol, I wish it was my cardimage Six figure card is out of my tax bracket. Heck, a five figure card is pretty much out of my zone.

A bit of hyperbole in the email:
We are delighted to announce that this auction will be featuring the following 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle, which will represent the single finest trading card to ever be auctioned on eBay in its long history

I guess it's time for me to have that long awkward discussion with my wife..."time to move into a smaller home (or maybe even tent) babe".

Interesting wording there. You could say he's implying the T206 Wagner that was auctioned isn't the finest trading card to hit eBay due to the recent revelations about the card.

I plan on being the high bidder...... For maybe the first two or three minutes it's live 😅

Nothing against PWCC (I've used eBay consignment before), but why consign this on eBay when you could negotiate a zero consignment fee with almost any major house and almost certainly not have to deal with any possible bidding and payment B.S.?

That particular Wagner has never been on eBay.

I'm sure bidders after a certain point will need to register with Brent, they will have checks in place and know who the big boys are that are bidding on that card.

Really? Auction House? Fricken dinosaurs. Way more eyeballs with money watching PWCC right now than these proprietary bid houses with no transparency, massive buyer fees and unable to snipe. The seller will more than pay the difference in commission with the bump they're getting on PWCC.
    Collecting PSA 9's from 1970-1977. Raw 9's from 72-77. Raw 10's from '78-'83.
Collecting Unopened from '72-'83; mostly BBCE certified boxes/cases/racks.
    Prefer to buy in bulk.

A 1954 Topps Hank Aaron PSA 10 was previously auctioned on eBay (this is going back 15 years). Personally, I would place that card above a Mantle 8. Nice looking 8, however.

The number of eyeballs that would be in the market for this card isn't exactly higher than my four year old could count - and most people have two. (My apologies to those who don't.) How many people that could could legitimately pull the trigger on this card wouldn't see it in REA or Goldin? Not many if any. Like I said earlier, nothing against PWCC or the consignor, I would have just put it in a house personally.

Already had the same discussion with my wife. Luckily the swelling should go down by the weekend...image
