CPG Addition of the 1942-S Jefferson - Ken Frith Specimen

Ok peeps, how unfair was this addition to the Cherry Picker Guide? The Unique Ken Frith 1942-S Jefferson Nickel!

Only one known and not officially confirmed by the Mint nor graded by any Grading Company. I make the assumption that this is an attempt at a little publicity to possibly unearth another example! I have to admit, I have been looking for a long time! I hope our host does NOT add this to the Complete Variety Sets!!!!! At least until I find one!

About as unfair as adding the 1958 DDO Lincoln to the complete varieties sets years ago. I think Blay owned two of the three known. Dr. Pete owned the other.

A 1943 D/D rpm 13 comes to mind. NONE of the top variety registry sets has one. None graded by PCGS last I looked.

Yes, there are several Washington quarters that have no graded coins by PCGS: 1935 DDO FS-101, 1961-D RPM FS-502, 1962-D RPM FS-501, 1965 DDR FS-801, 1969-D RPM FS-502, and 1989-D RPM FS-501. All but the last coin are included in the All Varieties set. (If anyone has any of these coins, I might be a very interested buyer.)
I am sure there are several varieties that PCGS hasn't graded in other series.
BTW, the finder of the 1942-S nickel was Ken Frith, not Firth.
An authorized PCGS dealer, and a contributor to the Red Book.

Many varieties are graded as the 'regular' coin, but not designated as anything special....
When an item gets added to the CPG, then they start designating it and add a number
- or when they add another 'expert book' and then start designating the varieties
Assuming you pay for the 'variety attribution service'.
edit to add that I do not feel it unfair to put in anything the editors feel like in their book.
daveweseen - I do agree the authors can add coins at their discretion. My hope is our host will do the same when it comes to the coins they add and begin attributing for the Complete Variety Sets.

@pablitordillo .... Welcome aboard.... Could you add more information to your post? And a picture if you are referring to a coin, if possible. That way we could help you. Cheers, RickO
Another revived thread that would benefit from a different color designation. Still have not got around to reviewing of my rolled pre-60 Jeffersons.

that would be wonderful, could you attach a picture here?
Has anyone heard of any 1942-P proof nickels made with the copper/nickel composition rather than the copper/silver/manganese composition? I ask because I have an ugly one in a PCGS PR65 holder that looks to me like it could be nickel. Picks below and I guess metal analysis is only way to determine.
I have not heard of this incorrect planchet, but theoretically could have happened. Metal analysis would be required.
