Poll - MS Coins, What Is Most Important to You?

For some it may change depending on the series. But generally speaking, which of the choices is most important for you?

I chose Most Eye-appealing Toning although Most Luster is a close second.
My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.

I want it all, of course, but to me, distracting marks takes away from any eye appeal which is right up there as well....and who doesn't like luster? Then again, I like them well struck...guess I try to get coins that are strong in all of these areas. Like I said, I want it all!

Full Strike with High Eye Appeal, which can be in the form of booming luster and original surfaces.

There wasn't a choice for what I really wanted so I picked "luster" as a substitute. If luster covers the whole coin, there's a good chance it's a MS coin.

A large % of "MS" TPG graded 19th century silver coins are not really unc, especially in the MS60-64 grades (ie they have rub, wear, friction, etc.). If I'm buying a TPG graded unc, I want it to be really "unc."

Eye appeal, to me, includes luster, strike and surfaces, besides attractive toning. So that's what I voted.

If a coin doesn't have eye appeal, little else matters.

Viewing the coin will always bring disappointment.

The only exception is when the coin is finally unloaded for cash or trade.. to be replaced with something attractive.

For me it's the strike and surfaces ( I hate spots and fingerprints) are the prime issue with luster next in line, tarnish is least important.

Eye appeal is first, with or without significant toning, and scant surface tics/no spots or fingerprints are second in my book.

If you would add eye appeal to your poll that would be my vote.

As others have alluded to, "eye appeal" is sort of an amalgamation of four of the five choices: strike, luster, toning, and surface preservation. The poll asks which aspect of that "eye appeal" is the most important to you (or perhaps grade is more important).
