Thanks for the props on my Rushmore cards. I'm glad you all can appreciate hockey cards too...

That said, I love that 33 Goudey Babe Ruth. Keep all these awesome cards coming.

Very challenging to pick only 4. I'll stick to a basketball theme this time:

well your 4 are better than my entire collection, or close to it. The Jordan alone is amazing.

I almost snuck in an '84 Donruss Mattingly but "Mr. October" essentially started my interest in baseball and collecting cards.

I think we need a better scan of that 52 Topps Mantle PSA 3 to start our morning properly. Amazing cards!

This has been a great thread so far. Every single post made me pause and take in what was being presented. Looking forward to seeing where this thread goes.

What a beauty!! I'm pretty sure the .5 system was created just for this type of Mantle. Amazing.

rexvos, thank you for such a tremendous thread idea!!

There are so many nice cards in here that I don't even know what to say. I think my favorite Rushmore so far is C.A.W.'s 4 Ruth cards, if I had to pick, but honestly it's impossible to choose. This thread is pure card porn!!

That Pocket Rocket is ridiculous. Such a hard card to find much less in high grade. The Wayner ain't too shabby either!

That might be the nicest 3 in the history of 3s! Beautiful card.

dberk12...beautiful Ryan RC from the recent Goodwin Auction! Not surprised the hammer price was $40k...one of the nicest 9s I have seen. I remember Mile High sold one in ~2003 for $6500 (a record price then)...and it looked just as nice...with back of card centered as well as the front (tough combination to find). I was told by Mile High that the winning bidder wanted to return it because he had second thoughts about paying that much. Unfortunately...I did not keep catalogue to check serial number if this is the same card...but it was on par as far as quality with your Goodwin Ryan RC. Congrats on owning such a nice card!

Fun stuff. Some out of this world cards guys. I did one for each sport and then "one" for each sport.

Baseball: tough to leave Roberto out, but felt Jackie needed to be in.
    image

Football: Namath is simply one of my all time favorite cards.
    image

Basketball: tough to leave out Pistol, Kareem and Dr. J, but at least Dr. J shows on the Bird / Magic.
    image

Hockey: while I'd like to own the Howe and Orr RCs, they're not in the budget right now. But I love the 54T set, and the 68 Orr was my next favorite after his RC.

Jim, that's some bodacious cardboard!! I agree with you that 68 hockey is a great looking set.

No wax yet in this thread on THIS board? Here's four of my favorites, maybe not the top four, but the top four that are scanned together.

Super great cards and others stuff guys.

    Love this thread.

Guys are posting cards worth more than whole collections.

What a crime not to have that 1963 Pedro Gonzalez graded. Shame on you.

So I think you should send it to me and I'll get it done for my 1963 Topps N Y Yankees team set.

Nice Rushmore Bobby. For me I'm such a big Mario fan he's not on Rushmore but atop Everest.

Thank you Jay, quite complimentary of you to mention my pretty Ken McMullen rookie card. If you feel a crime has been committed, please don't prosecute. I've put a temporary restraining order on 3rd party grading. image

Thank you. There is a surface crease on the back upper right that must bring the grade down.

Awesome stuff posted here. I love all the cards I've seen so far. Some cards have been posted multiple times but all in all a pretty cool variety. I really like the Presidential signed documents. Those are incredible. Also, I had the idea of posting a Rushmore with a card from each of the 4 "major" sports but I am missing hockey, sold my Gretzky RC to pay for another card. Congrats to Jim, who managed to not only post a 4 sport Rushmore but also had enough quality cardboard to make an individual Rushmore for each sport. It is a testament to the fantastic breadth to your collection.

Thanks for the note Mike. Bottom 2 I just picked up at the Natty in AC. Always wanted a Ruth and a Gehrig, and actually picked up a pair of Gehrig's since I liked the card so much. Plan is down the road I will move one of them to help get something else I need in my collection knocked off the list. I liked the centering on the 5 a lot, but could not pass up the color on the PSA 7 - looks like it was painted yesterday.
