disclosure: the blurriness is from my laziness and not your bourbon; unless it is so blurry you are seeing a toned washington proof superbird re-engraved deep cameo 69!
then, it just may be your imbibdedness. lol
.
i'll drink to that too

<< <i>Is that a 'ghosting' of another '1' on the right of the '1' in the date? Or perhaps a photo effect... >>
the long line is prob a die polishing/gouge line.
.
<< <i>Nice notching on the 4 in the date. Anything else doubled? >>
yes. the Y in liberty it appears. some central devices, designer's initials. odd pivot point. imo
seems to be doubled northeast at about 40-60° angle, not distance/spread.

<< <i>1945 DDO FS-101 Congratulations! That small image says it all, Lance! >>
fcloud is the first person to get this correct.
Well done. Congrats! The current Population at PCGS is 1 example in AU58 and 1 example in MS66....that's it.
It is a tough coin! You should send it to Great Collections, have them send it to PCGS for grading and attribution and then
start the bidding at $1. It should turn into a major home run for you! Congrats!

any guess on a value ?
<< <i>congrats there lance
any guess on a value ? >>
Since there are only two in the PCGS pops, there are a lot of people that need this coin.
If it grades Mint State, the bidding would be quite strong I imagine. It could go $500+ or more likely cross the $1K+ realm.
If it is AU58 then it could be a dud of $100...or a few hundred....depends on who shows up for the auction.
Great Collections has always done FANTASTIC for me with my Mercury Dime varieties.

<< <i>Your poll should have an option for both Doubled Die and Strike doubling.... because your coin has both >>
I was debating this as well. The full-coin picture seems to show strike doubling on the date and a few letters on the reverse. The close-up of the date, however, shows that it looks more like early die fatigue "doubling."

you are right, that option should have been and will be added, albeit belated.
the strike doubling appearance is a photographic artifact (in this case) which is a common occurrence, especially proof images (although strike doubling occurs on proofs).

<< <i>Is that a 'ghosting' of another '1' on the right of the '1' in the date? Or perhaps a photo effect... >>
here you can see this line is a probable diagnostic, possibly dependent upon die state.

a new ms64 in the pops. wonder if it is mine?

My guess is they will not take it down. There is a similar problem with the 1942-S Inverted S. They have a non-variety listed as and MS65FB. That coin was pulled from an HA auction and the coin remains in the POP reports.

when i first saw the coin i looked at the au58 coinfacts example and thought i had the wrong coin. thankfully there was the ms66 knockout coin. what a beaut.

I know. Dimeman's 1945 DDO (not DDO) in that image had me searching for a coin like the one in that image. I'm glad I didn't find it. Now I need to find one like yours.

I will keep up the hunt on this one as well. I'll find one eventually.

I found the ONLY KNOWN mint state example of the 1941 DDO FS-101 (MS-65) so
I will keep up the hunt on this one as well. I'll find one eventually.
Good luck, Greg! Like you said a matter of time...
