PCGS Rattler Samples I have

Here is a set of samples I have been working on for a few years now.
The set is collected two ways:
1st) coin number 05120 with different dates (05120=1960 MS dime) And
2nd) The correct PCGS coin number issued to the Roosevelt dime date.

Now here is the 2nd way to collect them.
Coin number 5233 is for 1958 Proof Roosevelt dime, so a Mint State coin should have the coin number 5116

Hope you enjoy these.

Still looking for any of the dates that are not pictured. These are all of the dates I do have.
Also on the coin number 5120. I don't know if these were all produced at the same time or at different times, meaning when they finally got the coin number correct or all dates were this coin number.
And that bring up one more question.
Which set was produced at PCGS and giving out first?
My Answer is the coin number 05120 was first! reason being that the 1960 dime was the first sample to be giving away and all the other dates followed with the same coin number, but then someone noticed that the coin numbers/date did not match and PCGS correct that little mistake.

Are the RUFFCO words on the 1964 MS64 on the inside or outside of the slab?
Thanks for sharing.

I am still hunting them. And some of the missing dates you would think are common but you just can't find them in the sample slab.
I have been working on the date set of samples for the different types and have a long way to go. The type 5 sample by Cameron Kiefer are fairly common but not all dates are easy to find! And then there is the variations in the label.
All in All, it is fun looking for these!!

Here are the first two types of samples. Type 1 (MS coin) and Type 1.1 (Proof coin).
Sample slabs has a new book out and can be ordered at samples book
I should have rattled the dimes and got them in the holder strait for their picture.

I'll try to get some back in.
but I NOW have no idea how to get a picture in the thread!

You were probably the 7th SS collector in the whole wide world. But you might have been the lucky 7th!
Sample slab collecting started back in 1993 when a couple of guys thought it would be neat to save the doily (called confetti back then) silver dime sample slabs. They cost about 70 cents back then but I came in late and paid an unprecedented 80 to 85 cents each.
I was ruining the market, I was told.

Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

why did you delete all the pictures?
The new format for the forum deleted all the pictures!
I don't know how to put them back in.
Even in a new post.

Thanks for all the comments. Even if you don't collect samples slabs, I think having some knowledge of them is helpful in not letting a rare sample sell to cheap.
Here are the first two types of samples. Type 1 (MS coin 1964-D) and Type 1.1 (1961 & 1963 Proof coin).

1964-D coin number 05120
or
1964-D coin number 05129?
Maybe all zero's in the serial number.

The last line reads -- 05129.64/7000023.
A match to the last sample picture on your first post.
That looks pretty cool

I figured I would bring this back up, it's been a while and I'm sure there as still some collector's being as the OGH keep getting more valuable.
I have no idea what this is really worth, I was surprised to see that same number as a previous one on this list, not the same coin, just the number.
So how many samples were created in this series? Anyone know?
