Hardcover MEGA RED?

If you had the chance to buy a hardcover version of the

would you?

Maybe as a collectors addition with guilded page edges, Gold Leaf lettering on a leather cover.

Probably not, unless it was a few years in the future and I wanted an update.....Cheers, RickO

I do not have a Mega yet and do plan to obtain a softbound copy.

Only if you could tell me how to keep the massive volume
open on a desk - unless each hardcover version comes with
    it's own brick!

I like the concept of what it has, but I, for one, am not out to impress anyone looking at my "library" on my bookshelf. So, from a functionality standpoint, I have passed on this purchase so far.
I want it. But, as I look at how I would use it, it isn't as functional as the ringed softcover version.
    Also, the price.....double+

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

just what we need is something heavier to bother the blown disc in our backs or blow out the other knee cap. wtfo
  • If it is a single ~1500 page volume that is perfect-bound, no.

If it is split into two manageable volumes of ~750 pages each (750pp is the size of Breen's Encylopedia), and it is not perfect-bound, yes.

I vote for the spiral bounding as well. That's easiest for desktop purposes.

    I own the paperback already.

A split volume hardcover or spiral bound hardcover would be very nice ... and I'd buy one.

Does anyone else feel like they started out strong with all the details about the half cents, large cents and other copper, then realized they had to fit the remaining U.S. coin types into the book? Take a look at the color coded markers on the side of the book and you'll see what I mean. Still, it's an extremely interesting and well put together book.

LOL! No, our plan from the start was to have a major expanded feature (of one or more denominations)
in each edition. If we super-expanded EVERY coin type in a single book, it would be 15,400 pages
    instead of 1,504!

    15,400!

THAT would be a major edition.

Would it come with a hand truck?

Somewhere I have a photo from the Whitman archives, from the 1960s,
showing a big tractor-trailer full of Red Books on their way to a distributor.
    Very impressive!

I think the Mega Red has finally outdone the Breen's Encyclopedia. Time to retire Breen to numismatic history.
