Long Beach Show Report

Spent 4 hours there. Mostly visited with people I knew. Coinwise, main goals were to sell a coin on which someone offered me too much for it (I did), have someone I trust look at another one I bought (unexpected result), see if I won the Heritage lot on which I bid (I did), and speak with Tom Reynolds about the upcoming sale of his nicest Coppers (details of conversation will remain private, but his answers were not surprising).
As usual, it seems that every Unc. Morgan ever minted was offered for sale. Lots of Commems. Saw four Small Eagle Bust $s, ranging from F 15 to AU 55. If you need a Capped Bust Half in XF or AU, you will have plenty to choose from. A played with MS 65 late date Capped Bust Half I saw a year ago is now in another dealer's case. Unc. BN Braided Hair Copper is available (Half and Large Cents). Saw a few Coronet Head Cents in Unc. A few of these coins were RD, and a handful RB.
MS 64 and MS 65 Capped Bust Halves were scarce. So were MS 66 Liberty Nickels. Passed on the two I saw. Dustin Massie had a nice selection of high grade Barber Halves, as usual.
Didn't see the energetic buying and selling I saw at the January / February show (missed the May / June show because I was out of the area). This show was not as busy and in general, did not have the same energy level as the one at the start of the year. Feel free to PM if you want more details.

I can also say there were a ton of Morgans and Bust halves (as usual). Sheridan had a real nice 1839 as I recall. But, yeah, there was a ton of CBHs around. I couldn't find any Classic Head $5 I like though...especially the allusive 1837 I've been trying to find.
Great report!

Three shows a year might be one to many for Long Beach.
