Kennedy Chronicles Set - less than 10,000 remained after the first hour - how can this be?

"Sales of the third 2015-dated Coin & Chronicles Set kicked off today at noon Eastern Time. Limited to 50,000 sets, half of them were claimed in the first 10 minutes and less than 10,000 remained after the first hour."

How could 10K sets remain an hour after they went on sale and still not be sold out.

    No, they aren't.

  • It's not unusual. The hard cores filled up now the last could take awhile. Remember the Kennedy gold fiasco? They sold something like 55k the first day ( just remembering not quite accurate) the rest took forever to move sometimes only a few a week. I want to be a glass half full guy. If the big buyer robots were buying these all up they would be gone. This means the supply is getting spread out. 90% of coin collectors don't even know these are available ( again just a guess) I don't think 50k will be too many when they are well known. I have no sealed mint products. I don't mind this being my first stuck in the closet for a couple years. Heck there's an ounce of silver in there along with the over promoted reverse proof Kennedy.

There were a lot of 50th Anniversary Products last year. The collecting public already may have had its fill maybe with the oversaturation of Kennedy.

If you look at a lot of recent mint products (from the 24k HR Liberty to the $1 C&C set), the Mint rapidly sells to the low 40K range on the first day, then sales stalls out.

It took 2 days for the $1 C&C set to hit 50K after brisk sales the first day.

This is an artificial effect due to household limits.

(I also wonder if the new fulfillment company is creating a wait list now by taking backordered orders rather than opening sales at 7:30am for microseconds at a time.)
