Nothing on the Ike... Guess these need edge contact to tone over on both sides
<< <i>I have one sitting on top of a white oak roll top for a year which sometimes tones silver in just a few months.

Is the Ike silver or clad?

Clad

Yes... Any coin which requires a moment of soul searching to see if you can live with it isn't worth buying.
As it's the same exact thing another collector will ponder about when it comes time for you to sell.
Here is one I would not have minded getting!
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Looks like bidder #4 put in one strong bid and bidder #3 pecked away at it 8 times before bailing.
I mean it's kind of interesting double sided toning and all but it's got all kinds of fingerprints on the obverse.
Maybe there is something else I don't see.
I like Ikes, btw.

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
I've noticed prices going up for quality Silver Eagle toners UNTIL a certain ebay Seller swamped the market with Artificially Toned examples. Must have submitted over 100 examples to PCGS and actually got a dozen or
more past the grading room. The other 88+ are in questionable color holders with no bidders. This has affected recent sales of legitimate toned Eagles. And of course, any Dealer now with a slightly toned ASE thinks its
worth 500 or more.
<< <i>I saw this one closed and sure looked like a strong price. Any thoughts?

Nice to see a strong price for that Ike: $2,256.09. GreatCollections is doing a great job!

<< <i>A 41-S ms67 gorgeous Washington qtr went for $4200 at the ANA. These generally go for 1k if solid for the grade. >>
I was surprised for how much that coin went for since I thought the color was a bit "burnt". This doesn't mean that I think someone overpaid; I just found the level quite surprising.

Here is mine, which has great color but is only a 64:
Latin American Collection
The prints are bothersome
That said, the color is pretty nice, but seen much better. Worth $2000+, maybe to the buyer, but certainly not me.
Maybe that buyer will be at Long Beach. I have some neat toners that will rival that coin.

Finest Toned Ike I've Ever Seen, been looking since 1986
I 'll bet you have more then enough there to make a match and find out who does not know how to handle coins.
It may be many people.

I'll go ahead and say it's beauuuuuutiful.

Very recent or a gradual incline for awhile?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
That didn't happen

I was going to reply with "I wonder what the coin REALLY looks like without the enhanced photography.
The above answers that question completely.
I'm going to guess that the person which purchased this one has a toned Type Set which they already have a tidy sum invested in.
The name is LEE!
<< <i>Looks like bidder #4 put in one strong bid and bidder #3 pecked away at it 8 times before bailing. >>
Two people really wanted it, which is all it takes. The other bidder dropped out way back at $150!

I would say it looks more like the GC image than the secure plus scan. GC does not enhance their images, you can tell that is a straight from the camera shot.
Those old Secure Plus scans are always bad. I think the coin looks great but not 2K great. I just decided to send a few toners to GC. I never have tried them but why not try an experiment and see what happens?

I would agree. I think, if anything, the pics from GC don't usually show the full colors. Secure plus scans aren't there to show color at all....no real lighting/angle anything. Definitely don't think GC enhanced the photo...just used lighting

And to the bidder too.
...but I just don't see it.
