<< <i>I don't believe that the buyer received ANYTHING. The tracking number was for something sent to another address/box # at his P.O. >>
i thought the buyer received a flyer about not being scammed or something ironic like that. could be another thread im thinking of.
i read/post to a lot of threads. most i read 100% of the posts, so my brain gets a little bogged from time-to-time. . >>
The buyer said that he received a tracking number from the seller for delivery of a catalog or something similar to a different box at his P.O. Whether that was a legit mailing or B.S we don't know. I guess he could try to contact that boxholder and ask.
<< <i>It sucks that the coin is not going to the bidder.
HOWEVER, calling the OP names because he started the thread, with no nefarious intent, is childish and stupid to do. Saying there should be a "new rule" put in place is also stupid, imho. Enough with rules on rules. It was a faux paus and that's all it was.
Also, there is NO PROOF that it was due to this thread that this happened. Someone else, on ebay, could have seen it and offered the seller more $$$. The seller could have realized it after the fact as well.
There ARE other explanations and no proof it was the OP's fault. People need to put their "holier than thou", "create another rule", "wah wah wah" pitchforks away.
It sucks, it happened, it is what it is. At least, small solace, no one is out money due to theft/fake/scam/etc. >>
<< <i>It amazes me that people are still posting links to recently closed listings and interfering or potentially interfering with people's collecting. >>
afterall the threads re this issue you think we all should know better. Would anyone who won post a thread before receiving said coin....I think not? >>
To be fair, I think one has to have been around the block a few times to realize these things can happen with a sale.
Also, as pointed out by TigersFan2 above, it could have nothing to do with any thread, but simply the fact that it sold so fast.
If the buyer really wanted to press things with Ebay, Ebay could look at the seller's Ebay messages to see if someone contacted him with a better offer in the day or so after the auction ended. The only way to contact him is through Ebay private messages. That would be a violation for both the seller and the 2nd buyer and would likely be enough grounds to get both their accounts disabled from Ebay. Ebay has a very strict rule about taking sales off-Ebay to avoid Ebay fees.
One minor consolation is that the seller still likely had to pay the Ebay seller fees on the sale (10% or $700???) since he didn't have a legitimate reason to cancel the auction.
